Hello everyone
Some ideas came to my mind for how Jeanne d’Arc can be improved regarding her look and feel. Regarding balance, I can’t make any proper assessment, because I’m a casual player and I have not played Jeanne d’Arc extensively by any means. I also want to state that I really like the concept of this civ centered around a hero. This civ is unique in the way, that it is all about centering your army around Jeanne, which really gives of these heroic vibes of Jeanne leading your army into battle and inspiring them. I’m aware, that historically it is an immense stretch, but that does not really bother me. I actually like how this alternate take of the history of Jeanne d’Arc (What if she was not executed by the English, led the French to more victories and grew much older?) serves as a unique civ concept.
Now, what I dislike is the melee handcannon (blast cannon). It’s just strange, unrealistic, historical nonsense and does not even feel impactful. I think it should be replaced with a more elegant and elite looking sword than in level 3. I’m fine with the long range handcannon. Yes, historically it is quite ridiculous, but I like the look and feel of the gun and it is not as unrealistic as the melee blast cannon.
With the melee cannon out of the way, I propose that her normal attacks in level 4 don’t deal bonus damage to buildings. Instead she shall place petards on buildings and walls when attacking them. For those who don’t know, petards were early bombs for destroying structures. They were basically pots that you filled with gunpowder, mounted them against a wall and then set the gunpowder ablaze. Historically, this would even be very fitting (not for Jeanne specifically of course 
, but for a French civ in general). This would be very similar to the C4 attacks that commando units have in Command and Conquer (e.g. Tanya in Red Alert games).
Finally, there are three details that bug me:
- Her spin attack does not have any proper animation.
- She has the scout voicelines in the first 2 levels.
- When aging up, she looks the same as all the other villagers.
