A guy in Reddit noticed something. In the Barbarossa campaign civs have been replaced step by step by new ones. However there are 3 left on a certain map.
Lorrains, bavarians and swabians confirmed.

If it’s possible to mix architecture styles, I’d give the Teutons/Thuringians the Slavic set walls (red brick ones).

that map is quite crap, before bavaria and swabia, swiss and austrians and then with a big maybe also bavarians, alltought civs like croatians etc. would be better. Why swiss and austrians? They would offer great campaign potential and its frankly quite a shame that there isnt a single proper campaign about the rise of the habsburg dynasty. We already have them included in the bohemian, cuman and lepanto campaign/scenario, they really would deserve their own campaign.

Austria was still in Bavaria in the year this map depicts.
It could be…the campaign would be René II of Lorraine (1473-1508)…he had to face both Louis XI and Charles VIII of France and Charles de Bold (although at one point he allied himself with the former against Charles the Bold in the Burgundian Wars in 1477 and then in the Mad War in 1485)…he faced the Duke of Ferrara and Venice in 1482 and finally Charles VIII, they clashed over the crown of Naples in 1488…
Hm. If there was a german expansiton that finally solves the absurd “teuton” umbrella.
I would prefer to get stuff like swiss, potentially allemans (as new umbrella for the smaller german douchies in the south), friesians for tne north and a real HRE (or later austrian/habsburg) civ.
Although in the Holy Roman Emperor scenario (that I think this map is from), Bavaria and Austria are different players and even different civs.

Yes, Austria are Goths (wrong, they should be Teutons like in Kotyan)… Bavaria and Lorraine are Teutons (no problem with that), Bohemia and Burgundy have their respective civs and Saxony would use the new Saxons…
I think he got suspended but whatever I’m tired of Euro civs even if they have new regional units
Dont forget every faction the goths were a standin for got correct civis later. Eg barbarosa second poland was goths slavs poles.
Of course, if or when they bring in the Austrians, they’ll probably change it…

I agree that Swiss and Austrians would work well for a future DLC. I’ve been speculating about a Central European DLC with 3 connected campaigns:

Swiss: Rise of the Swiss Confederacy in the 15th century (not sure if it will have one or several protagonists)

Magyars: Matthias Corvinus

Austrians: Maximilian I
Those civs and leaders interacted a lot with each other and with most other nearby civs. And the campaigns would represent a coherent theme of transition into the Early Modern world and pike and shot warfare.
That said, I’m rooting for an African DLC next. Maybe with a new East African architecture set (for Swahili, Somali, Nubians, Ethiopians?)

Higher chance it’ll be included in a Balkans themed DLC with Vlachs and Albanians since Dracula and Skanderbeg were connected to Matthias Corvinus (pretty sure Dracula was imprisoned by him and then released with his support against the Ottomans and perhaps Skanderbeg fought him aswell)
