[Just for fun] Civs you'd like to see (but probably won't)

Kurds, Nubians, Andalusians, Somalis, and Yemenis from my MENA concept. Kurds could ideally be split into Kurds and Daylamis, but they were closely related peoples living similar lives so an umbrella is acceptable too.

Yemeni campaign: The next DLC should be Middle Eastern - #49 by smiki5five

East and South Africa:

• Somali – naval and camel civ. Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi campaign.
• Oromo – infantry and cavalry civ. The campaign could cover the expansion into Ethiopian and Somali territories under Michile Gada / Michelle Gadaa.
• Kongolese – infantry and archers civ. Alfonso I campaign.
• Angolans – infantry and skirms civ. Ngola Inene campaign.
• Shona (Zimbabwe, Mutapa, etc) – defensive infantry and monk civ. Nyatsimba Mutota campaign.
• Nguni (Xhosa, Zulu, Ndebele, etc) – aggressive skirm civ. Manala son of Musi seems like a decent campaign hero (family conflicts and conquests of new lands). There might be others but the history is oral so it’s hard to research for details.
• Swahili (Kilwa, Zanzibar, etc) – defensive naval and archer civ. Campaign perhaps about Suleiman Hassan of Kilwa, who seized control over Sofala from the Somalis?

The Americas:

Mesoamerica

• Tlaxcalans: gunpowder civ to signify their alliance with the Spanish, the campaign could based on colonial conquests of Mayan, Chichimeca and Filipino territories they carried on in the name of the Spanish Crown. Can wall.
• Chichimecas: cavalry civ (Stables buildable in Castle or Imperial age). They are “the barbarian” of Mesoamerica, causing constant trouble to the Aztecs and later the Spaniards, and can serve as a bridge between Mesoamerican and North American civs. Access to Fortified Palisade.

American Southwest (Pueblo architecture)

• something Puebloan (Hohokam, Zuni, Anasazi?): defensive agricultural civ (Hohokam canals were on par with Egyptian ones). Potential campaigns are the Navajo-Anasazi war (legendary but within the timeframe) and the Pueblo Revolts (best documented but not within the timeframe). Can wall.
• Athabaskans: a Navajo-Apache umbrella, they migrated to the Southwest from the north around High to Late Middle Ages. Both Navajo and Apache were known for utilizing camouflage in warfare so perhaps they could have a UT allowing their Skirms to remain undetected until attack? They are also amongst the first to adopt horses, so they could get Cav Archers or an analogue thereof. Only palisade.

Plains and Woodlands (Mound Builder architecture)

• Siouans / Dhegiha: Sioux/Lakota nowadays are primarily associated with horse warfare, but I’d prefer to base the civ on their southern cousins who formed the core of the Mississippian culture, the Dhegiha (descendants of whom include the Osage, the Quapaw, etc.); as such, I’d make them an Archer civ. Can wall.
• Iroquoians: infantry civ, Hiawatha campaign. Access to Fortified Palisade.
• Algonquians: they invented the tomahawk, so if it’s a regional they should have an access to its better version. Good trash. Chief Powhatan campaign. Only palisade.
• Shoshone: Comanche Cataphract UU. Only palisade.

Tropics (ideally new architecture for them and the Tupí, but the SouthAm set would suffice)

• Caribs: warlike cannibals of rivers and seas, what’s not to love? Give them food for each killed enemy units. Only palisade.
• Arawaks: their more peaceful neighbors, so less eating enemies and more eco I guess. Access to Fortified Palisade.
