After reading through this thread, I’m thinking “Since when is hostility a virtue?”
This could certainly be the last DLC from Europe, but from Southern Europe ![]()
You would add the Venetians civ to this and then it would be quiet about adding any civs from that region.
For sure the German DLC would sell well regardless of the region because it would be an iconic DLC theme (Holy Roman Empire, Ostsiedlung, Barbarossa, Great Interregnum, Long Turkish War, Thirty Years’ War, Crusaders, etc) just like the DotD DLC. Moreover, when creating a DLC with a Northern European/North Sea theme, we would also be exposed to the iconic DLC theme (numerous epic wars for power in the British Isles, Great Heathen Army, Nordic exploration, Celtic tribes, etc).
Wait wait wait, you call me out on my nitpicking and then you nitpick info you like!?
And you didn’t give me counter-argument, just phrases that you understand differently.
For example:
What does this prove? That two people groups co-existed? And that someone called them two empires? Even though there is no evidence they were empires, and not even had centralized government.
This is exactly my point, we can call any tribe an empire this way.
But actually in Europe it was different, other countries, and more importantly, the pope and/or patriarch had to recognize your rule and give you a title of emperor/tsar (this goes for king also) in order for your country to be considered an empire.
What was i supposed to do copy whole articles for you? Or go to reddit armchair historians like you did? Please! ![]()
It means that it was wasn’t an ‘‘empire’’ for the whole duration like you posted it gradually became, and you added 100 years. In fact you did that for every other example.
If we would do that for any Euro civ from the period they were loose federation of ethnic tribes to the kingdom or empire than you will get much much larger numbers in both years, population, area, etc…
And then you nitpick for examples you gave for European civs, like Serbia - you made it look that it only lasted 25 years interrupted and completely discarded the kingdom period and grand principality period which in total was uninterrupted from 1091 to fall of empire in 1371 and even then succeeded by Moravian Serbia and then Despotate period until 1459.
See what i’m getting at? You nitpick and then call me out for nitpicking!? How is that fair?
I admit i don’t know about Americas states, but then you should admit that you don’t know about European states, at least those that you mentioned here.
And again Im not against adding those civs you mentioned, i just called you out on your lies and nitpicking because you crap on civs other people would like to be added that you are indifferent to.
Actually, the Caucasus civs came in first or second in several consecutive polls, so they were by no means unpopular. They consistently beat out larger regions that were also underrepresented. Their inclusion was only a matter of time.
I just want at least 2 new American civs to fix the blandness of the Inca campaign (a common complaint from those who enjoy campaigns BTW (would likely make me want to play them)) and 2-3 civs in Africa to fix the ridiculous replacement civs also in the campaigns while also granting us more ways of playing with Eagles as well as giving us more options to play using the two beautiful architecture sets in game. This is literally the bare minimum compared to many other regions ingame which are either a) getting their finishing touches and/or b) getting the microscope approach
Getting new arch sets for those I would like but I’m not getting my hopes up.
After those(hopefully) next two DLCs we can get a Balkan DLC for those craving more European civs from my side. I really don’t care.
You have to consider that the last (and only so far) African DLC has been in 2015 (8 years ago). And the last partially American one in 2013.
Just before or after Africa and America usually.
@WhiteMagick4 Both post DLC release. No special request threads. In one of them you literally only have those two at disposal which makes it irrelevant to what I said.
As I mentioned earlier, I hope that the next DLCs in 2024 will be:
- American DLC: Chimu, Muisca and Tarascans
- Sahara & Horn of Africa DLC: Kanem-Bornu, Mamluks, Moroccans and Somalis
- West African DLC: Akan, Benin, Songhai + Ghana, Fulani or Yoruba
Bantu DLC (Congolese, Swahili and Zimbabweans) I think should be released much later (after other regions), because at the moment I think it is more necessary to add missing civs from regions already covered in the game (or which are spots on the map like the Balkans and until recently the Caucasus) and umbrella civs - this would require adding a completely new Bantu Architecture Set.
The civ throws scimitars from camelback and has its own unique armor type. Obviously
The question was “do you want the next DLC to be these specific civs”, and out of 150 people, 40% specifically said yes to those specific civs. That’s quite a lot.
That was my point. That there’s a lot of people in the fanbase who would like AoE2 to be focused on Europe, since as the people who want Africa said “AoE2 is an euro-centric game”.
Being someone who likes Africa is okay, being someone who likes Africa and denies the existance of the people who like Europe, is kind of a jerk move.
I was simply debunking the OP’s idea that “general consensus is that the game is now oversaturated with European civs”, because, quite clearly, from those votes, when 40% of the voters want the next DLC to be in Europe, it’s not.
Not to mention those who don’t want the next DLC in Europe, aren’t necessarily against the idea of another European DLC. That’s a subset of a subset.
We dont deny you exist we wish you’d stop shoving it in our face for 1 out of every 3 threads that you like and probably are Romanian.
And desipte me want for some new East Asian and Meso civs those who do the same for auper specific civs also get on my nerves. Diversify your wants, people
They should add the Libertarians
Ah, volviste.
@DrMaxy4142 , @EliteRiflemann
Mods, Gargarensis got bored again it seems
I don’t shove it in your face, never actually tagged you or anything like that. A topic is like a TV channel, don’t like the channel? switch the channel.
I didn’t force anyone to read my topics, and by the arguments of those who hate my topics they didn’t actually read my topics in the first place, so what’s the issue?
They just came, write “another Romanian post”, move on.
I had a topic about Michael the Brave, about Stephen the Great, about DLCs with multiple civs & Slavs rework and about a Romanian civ.
Yes, they all have the central theme of “Romanians” because shocking I want Romanians in the game, but that’s where the similarities end. They are not copy-paste from each other, each topic is unique.
Saying “it’s the same topic over and over again” when in fact it’s not, shows you (not you specific, “you” in general) didn’t actually read the topic. Which again, you don’t have to.
I get that several users are already bothered by it, but it’s really weird, it’s like I hate fishing but everytime I open the TV I make sure to open the hunting&fishing channel and then I’m upset by the content of the hunting&fishing channel. You have the remote, you can choose what topics you want to visit or not, do that.
But me aside, this phrase “The general consensus is that the game is now oversaturated with European civs” from OP is exactly that, denying that people who want the next DLC to be an European DLC exist.
I don’t want the next DLC to be an African DLC, but I’m not going to say “The general consensus is that the African civs would be very boring”.
To me that’s exactly what it sounds like, denying the people who want Europe exist. “The general consensus is that the game is now oversaturated with European civs” yet from those votes 40% of the voters want the next DLC to be in Europe.
Even though I answered right after you, I dont mean you had said that. Though your conversation with the other user indeed made me think on comments that always show up when outside europe civs come to debate
Perhaps this one:
poll Please note that I am aware that the devs said no new civs. This is simply a poll about which civilizations players would have liked to have seen in the game if the devs were willing to add more. If you think a potential civ is missing from the list, please let me know. MULTIPLE CHOICES ALLOWED
I was going to post this one as well
I’ve tried to be as unbiased as possible. There’s also an option for no more new civs for those who like to vote that way. I’ve written a civ next to a region which already features one so that people get an idea what I mean with each. Civs from which regions would you like to see? poll This second polls asks generally speaking about what you think should be the approach in regards for new civs. The second option “We have enough for now” can basically also mean “I don’t care either”. poll pol…
But there are a few new profiles with no other activity besides voting in that poll. Weird. ![]()
I was going to post more polls but strawpoll is no longer working unfortunately.
Anyhow, I’ve proven my point. Take care.
Conflates the Bohemians option with the Poles option so is again not relevant, I’m sorry.
People artificially voting multiple times are pathetic, no matter if they have the same opinion than me or not. I value democracy a lot as Swiss citizen.
@Darkillermon: I’m honestly just impatient to get African/American civs before new civs are set and done. And you really can’t say that everybody who enjoys mostly/exclusively European history didn’t get their fair share of love and attention since even the very first expansion and even post DE.
Conflates the Bohemians option with the Poles option so is again not relevant, I’m sorry.
I feel like you are just changing the criteria which you will deem satisfactory and I am afraid I cannot help you with that. Bohemians were added for whatever reason and that’s that. You do you. Thank you for your time.
I’m just pointing to you that some people really wanted Poles, not necessarily Bohemians, just that. That’s why I have a problem with your interpretation of the poll. That’s all.
I think this is leading anyway to nowhere. Have a nice day anyway.
Fair enough. We agree to disagree. Have a nice day too ![]()
Hmmmm, Im a bit lost. Is this a miss-mention?
Europe needs a break. For at least 10 DLCs.
