That’s pretty much it. This is by far the prettiest and the coolest looking color in the game. I love it to death.
Breaks my heart that we’re gonna lose it. Seems to me that a lot of people were complaining before but got used to it and now it seems fine.
What I’m saying is, they should fix this issue then. For starters, just like in team games, they could let us choose our opponents’ colors in ranked matches as well, right? It’s that simple. Removing a feature that causes a problem instead of fixing the underlying issue seems very illogical to me and feels like taking the easy way out.
Am I talking about something different here? I don’t understand. What you’re showing is only applicable to team games. That’s exactly what I pointed out above. They could implement the same system in normal matches as well.
Giving players options doesn’t magically make an inaccessible option, accessible.
They should give players options, for sure. But “removing a feature” (and calling a single colour, or even two colours, “a feature” really is stretching it in my opinion) is something they’re fully allowed to do as the developers of the game.
Man, i just like the dark green colour, I personnally don’t have readability issues with it. I am aware people complained a little bit when it came out, but it seems most of us have grown to like it now and are perfectly fine with it.
I said it was my opinion. I develop features all the time. Adding a colour to an existing colour selector feature is an enhancement according to product (and according to myself, in my opinion again).
I get that some people liked these colours. I’m sad to see the options go. But I understand why they went.
Team based color is a setting that applies to all gameplay. So you can have your color and your enemies color be whatever you prefer, the caveat being that it is client side, ie only you will see those changes.
For people who were experiencing difficulty with dark green and magenta readability this was a solution, but not one that satisfied people playing 4v4. In that mode there are so many different enemies that it made it difficult to differentiate between different factions on the map. Knowing at a glance which opponent you are looking at on the minimap is important.
But uhhhh I agree with the sentiment that they should not have removed it. Other games, like aoe 2 or starcraft 2, have figured out how to give players a large selection of color choices. Just change the hue!
Ideally they should not remove color choices!
Edit: warcraft 3 has 24 options. There’s a lot of overlap, but I’m just trying to show how other games have solved this problem:
I mean, why cant the devs leave it in custom matches and single player? They were the players that used it the most, me included.
I understand the issues it may have caused in multiplayer, but just like the devs that thought maybe we should have the fantasy biomes and seasonal content noone asked for back in custom matches just for the sake of “having them there”, i feel like the dark green colour (which actually has people behind it that would like it back) should stay in skirmish and custom games too
Who knows? Maybe it was too much effort to split the colour palettes like that? Maybe it has some knock-on effect on the model data?
I have no idea, but generally speaking there’s a reason for any change, even if that reason was “you have five minutes to make this change, make it happen”.
