When creating a LAN server we get kicked out of the lobby after some seconds with the error “Sorry, You have lost connection to Multiplayer Services”.

I get it on 2 different computers with 2 different steam accounts

Also other people are reporting the same problem:

It started after last update

This was a bug with the PUP. I posted it then in this forum and also posted it in on the Reddit. Apparently none of the devs bothered to fix this issue. It is still broken. LAZY DEVS. Why would they release something that was REPORTED to be broken already.

Having the exact same issue as described above. All methods of starting a multiplayer lan game fail with the error “Sorry, You have lose connection to multiplayer services.”
First noticed the issue yesterday and gone through thorough testing and debugging with no avail.

Exact same situation as the OP. I came here looking for answers and am glad to know I’m not the only one experiencing this issue. This is quite frustrating and I hope this can be resolved soon!

Is there another resource that can be used to post the issue? How do we gain the attention of the developers for either a patch or a workaround until they provide a patch? Playing on the servers is not enjoyable to me. The performance differences are incredibly noticeable and distracting when playing against people just a few physical feet away from me.

Hello!
We’re already tracking this issue

I’m having the exact same issue.

This needs to be fixed asap. The game is basically unplayable locally.

Oh that really sucks! If it’s only the latest patch that introduced this error maybe you can utilize the aoe downgrade tool from Greg stein (used it in the past to watch old replays) if you still want to play locally. Hope they manage to fix this soon, I think they should’ve postponed the update if they were aware of this issue

Good report and instructions on how to re-create. Had hoped this would be resolved soon, me and the wife do enjoy very large crazy games locally and only LAN can provide that. Please fix soon guys.

I like to play local games with other people in my household, but cannot use the “Local LAN Server” when hosting. About 5-10 seconds after launching the lobby, it will forcibly take me back to the game title page with a message saying “Sorry. You have lost connection to Multiplayer Services.” Workaround: use any public server, like uswest3, and the game works fine for hosting with my local friends. It’s just annoying that lag is introduced by being forced to use an external server.

:arrow_forward: REPRODUCTION STEPS

 List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptive!

  1. Launch AOE II: DE from Xbox PC Gamepass app.
  2. Load AOE II:DE after confirming no updates to the microsoft store or the game are required.
  3. Open a new lobby with “use local LAN server” as the server.
  4. Wait 5-10 seconds, then the game crashes back to the title screen with the above message.

:arrow_forward: EXPECTED RESULT

 What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?

I would be able to launch a local LAN game with visibility to other players on my network. The lobby would not crash, and I would be able to launch a game with local hosting only.

:arrow_forward: GAME FILES (SAVE / RECORDING)

 Attach a SAVE GAME (.aoe2spgame) or GAME RECORDING (.aoe2record) of the match where you encountered the issue. Link it below if using an external file service.

I cannot attach a save game as no game is able to start using local LAN server.

Is there an update on this?

This is still not fixed. Even in the new PUP patch.

Same issue. This has been bugged since the devs broke LAN functionality in the patch prior to September.

This is still broken as of #96976

Can one of the Devs provide an update, please? Even if it’s “were working on this”.

generally takes about 6-12 months depending on the priority. if lucky could be less than 6 months, so about 4 more months to go.
