For decades, to play an another person’s replay, we tediously do the following: dowload, unzip, fuddle for the save game folder, copy, launch AOE2, go to single game → replay → find the game inside many files whose names are completely gibberish>
Not any more! With AOE2 game viewer, you just have to Paste and Play. The app will do all the chores. Yeah

I know this is self-promption but it’s free and high effort and a contribution. I do think app creators are an important part of our community along with players, streamers, content creators, and compaign makers.

The paste link doesn’t have to be a direct link. Just paste a game link from aoe2insights_com, aoe2companion_com or ageofempires_com and the app will find the direct download link by itself.

This is wonderful! I wonder if I can play the match showcased in one of the T90’s video - Greatest Heist or something—where the players are stuck in a stalemate situation but one of the players is on a little island and has to take away the relic from the mainland to have a chance at winning.
I tried Past and Play. Why does it quit the game from full screen, move the cursor randomly, then full screen again and does nothing further? Seems a broken feature.
It uses autohotkey script to do the clicks to load the game. If it fails, go to aoe2’s Replay menu and find the game manually. The game is already copied to the save game folder.
Will it work for old recorded games, like from HD, FE, and CE days?
Or how recent does the recorded game need to be?
There’s been a long-standing issue where saved games and recorded games break with virtually every game patch
And how do we know this tool is safe and not going to install malware, etc.?
no it won’t work for old games.
