 DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD.
One or a couple of these problems occurred when I joined any lobby:

  • “Need to wait until I leave previous match message” shows up repeatedly
  • Player order changing inside the lobby screen every few seconds
  • Ping showing 0ms
  • Cannot write in chat
  • People seemingly cannot read my chat OR I cannot receive messages in chat
  • Cannot ready up
  • Player icons not loading / showing a template user icon (man silhouette)

I was able to get into one game despite these issues, but it then crashed a minute in due to desync. After that, the lobby system was still broken until I restarted the game.

Hello @cmfrydos
Did you have this issue more than once? Are you using mods?
Thanks for the report.

No, this is the first time I have experienced this issue.
I’m using some mods affecting some GUI elements and in-game appearance (Grid, Smaller Trees, Bigger Idle Icon) and also adding some better AI (Barbarian and Rehoboam). I regularly use https://aoe2lobby.com to join matches, which could be part of this issue. But like I said, this is the first time I experienced this wild behavior.
Without knowing the code, I could imagine that parsing the server message queue could have run into a hiccup, misinterpreting (most of) the communication with the server, but that’s just a wild guess.

It was probably a server issue, let me know if you have this again.

It just happened again. This time, I filled the last slot and the countdown immediately started without me pressing “Ready.” Also, with each tick of the countdown, all players changed their slot positions. Once again, the players had silhouettes. Unfortunately, it happened so quickly that I couldn’t launch OBS to record it.

When I entered the game, I tried to chat to ask for a restart, but my chat window repeatedly closed as soon as it opened. Only after I resigned was I able to type again, but I’m not sure if the other player could see my messages.

Replay - though I don’t know whether it’s helpful:
