Looks like all Southern American civs don't have militia line

Eagle line and Hei guang.

I honestly completely forgot about the 3K-knight.

scout and eagles I feel fulfill quite different roles and have different counters, are made in different buildings. But I see where you are coming from. I was mostly thinking about “in-place replacements”

Tbh its easy to forget when its just practically a knight

I know but my question is, from a gameplay necessitation standpoint revolving around balance and wasting funds on art and coding yada yada yada… is it NEEDED? Or is it just the civ crafters showing off via their coders and artists

Either age is catching up to both of us or there is too many things ingame to remember.

Eagle is a scout and knight hybrid so it can be counted as a replacement unit too.

Who knows maybe the flemish militia will become a spearman line replacement with time.who ever thought we would get a militia line replacement.

Another excellent argument to slow up on new regionals and just use the ones we already got

Three more unit lines left so most likely they will go all out and complete.

Civs can look less alike with more regional units. New civs with new regional units introduce more variety not similar civs imo.

I actually suggested this right after DOI. But not like this. It was more like Savar but start from Feudal or Castle.

You mean like what the romans got?

Do they? How similarly do Franks and Goths and Celts and Britons play? Smart use of what we CURRENTLY HAVE can make sufficiently unique civs without wasting time on unnecessary regionals and second uniques

Yeah. But from Feudal age for some civs like Dravidians or from Castle age like Celts. And obviously no outpost building ability.

in my defense, I just haven’t engaged at all with the 3K stuff.

yeah, I can see where you are coming from. I mostly thought about “replacement units” as the ones that take up the same slot in the production building (what I meant by “in-place”)

I am not that confident of devs’ ‘smart’ use. If more Euro civs introduced, I don’t really think that we need more regional. But if new civs are from Americans/Africans, I believe that we need more as this game is also historically influenced.

I don’t think we will ever see a regional replacement for the Skirmisher. That guy is just so generic that he can fit in anywhere.

We could in theory have one for african bantu civis.

True, they could have the Assegai, a fast skirmisher, but that should be more of a Cav Archer replacement instead of replacing the Skirmisher.

That… that is an incredible response. No sarcasm I cant out quip that

A mounted skirmisher is already there with the genitour tho.it would be odd to get two units with the same use if you get a berber ally.

This isn’t a mounted unit. It’s just a really fast foot unit. And it’s not very anti-archer either. Sorry, that wasn’t clear.
