Make arrows miss! Tower rush will be solved!

Hill bonus was in close beta or earlier… Guess what? They removed and they also removed archers melee engagement because pros complained and they wanted a simpler game, those that want to use small trees for “clarity”…

Let’s be honest here… the way Relic design this game, was to avoid risk…

Pretty accurate that guns have a short range in the 15th Century - at Bosworth Field they were used like shotguns; flank the enemy, get real close, blast, and run off again

Yes im quite sure that relic wanted to design the game to be as beginner friendly as possible. And with homing arrows, strong defensive buildings, no hill bonus they have really flattened the skill gap. I have no idea why they didn’t introduce two or more game modes. One for competitive play and another for treaty casual play. Pretty much every competitive veteran RTS player I have asked didn’t want to start or keep playing it because of the features I’ve mentioned.

I wouldn’t even care about the defensive structures as they seem to be a fundamental part in every AoE game (maybe AoE1 does not have a TC that can shoot arrows?) but combined with the lack of micro and no hill bonus it really starts to become dull and repetitive very fast. The hill bonus would have been such a great and smooth feature as combined with the random map generation it would have easily decreased repetitiveness.

There have been huge discussions about cheese strategies in team games which didn’t exist in 1on1 games. Team game maps were huge resulting in an entirely different game play. They should have aligned the maps first before doing any sort of balance patch and I have no idea how the devs could not see that.

Let’s not pretend that just because some mechanics were “simplified” assuming that IS the reason they didnt add them, that this game is “easy” by an stretch of the imagination. There is still a ton to do, plus learning each civ because of their varying strengths on different maps makes for PLENTY of content to master before you are a pro and things become “boring”. Just because YOU choose to play one civ, with exactly one strategy, doesn’t mean the game is limited in what it offers.

Please tell me where I said the game was “easy”. I’ve said that it is very beginner friendly, not easy. That’s two very different things so please stick to what I have said instead of making up artificial arguments. It’s just bad manner tbh. There’s a ton to do on the macro side but that usually pays off in the long term, not the short term. And beginners usually do not want to be interrupted early on in the game so this game allows them to have a smooth entry, hence I’ve called it beginner friendly, not easy. “Easy” or “Hard” are generally pretty much pointless terms when it comes to computer games and most other things. In the end it’s usually the competitiveness of the scene that decides how easy or hard a game is to master. Further I did never mention that I choose to play only one civ with exactly one strategy. Again your making up things. Stop that and stick to what I’ve actually said please.

Heading stupidity is seek realism in a game that doesn’t pretend to be realist.

Heading stupidity is thinking that someone can dodge arrows. Arrows hit or don’t hit, but not because someone can “micro” in real life and dodge it, but because the shooter can miss.

You want realism or you want AoE4 to be a copy of AoE2?

I am sorry but I think AoE4 doesn’t pretend to be exactly as AoE2.

What if I don’t want to be a “pro” and only have fun from time to time? Game is not easy you are right, but it is not fun, at the end I play RTS to have fun not to become a pro that play 12 hours per day and don’t even care about the game just the money.

So with time constraints, you only manage to play 1 civ, yet that civ lacks in unique units and the end the game is boring… May be I am used to more complex games like AOE lll and COH, but I found AOE IV extremely simple…

It pretends to be an inferior version of age ll st the same time and inferior version of age lll… you are right.

If you you’re desire is to have fun, and fun alone. Never to actively improve, never to work towards a greater goal, that is awesome, I hope you do have fun…if you don’t…then Don’t complain about the game, “balance”, OP strats, or the devs. Because if your goal is simply to have fun, and you are not…THEN PLAY SOMETHING YOU HAVE FUN PLAYING. ezpz. Ggwp.

Like seriously. I played Overcooked 2 until I got bored and then just stopped. Never to set records, never to do anything but have fun…and I didn’t whine about bad level design, clunky mechanics, or any other thing that could be “wrong” with it. Because my goal was never to imporve the game, improve myself at it, delve deeper than "fun " level into it, or anything. So if it isn’t fun…STOP. it’s literally that simple. You have fun in Total War? Great. Go play it. You have fun in Mario Kart? Fantastic, go pick Yoshi.

Why spend all your time on feedback forums repeating yourself about how trash, or what youd fix it with, etc. etc. When you could have fun playing something else?

Because I can, I will keep doing it if you don’t like it, don’t read the post, another reason Is because I played RTS for almost 20 years, I now how to be competitive as I participated in SC snd C&C /dota tournaments, I know about that stuff, nowdays I just want to have some fun with games, and with all that experience I think I understand RTS good enough to understand why this game is lacking, why it will be doomed if not changed…

So boy, if you don’t like my post you can ignore it, I can ask the same question, if the game is that great, why are you here ?

Why? Beacause I enjoy fruitful discussion regarding possible changes and people’s outtakes and strategies regarding their favorite civs. I don’t enjoy the same complaint on every post, 15 times, by the same 12 people.

But that’s fine. I’ll just ignore your posts and regard them as nothing more than random text from someone who simply enjoys typing, rather than a credible source trying to facilitate engagement and growth on a meaningfull level.

Have a nice day.

So… is not my fault if you don’t enjoy it, I’d a forum after all.

“Hey look at me, I am a player that has 20 years of RTS at his back, everything that is not insanely micro demanding is inferior, I am the superior race”

OK.

Yet another step to make it AOE2.
