Map Generation Balance Issues

Just played a game where half the map was walled off by mountain. Our Delhi player’s TC spawned with about a good 75% of the TC backing on to mountain walls. All 6 players in the 3v3 were stuck in one corner of the map. After watching the replay, the other portion of the map was actually grey on the minimap, and just looked like barren land.

I know this has been most likely touched on with different scenarios regarding map generation (resource placement, etc.)

I did want to point out the most frustrating thing I’ve experienced so far. In a 1v1 there should never be a circumstance where at least one market does not spawn. Many civs have great market bonuses (Mongols, France, Abbasid, etc.) and lose entire eco capabilities by having them not spawn in 1v1. Also, I have had this happen on multiple 1v1 maps AND on maps where I have had them spawn multiple times before in 1v1 (BF, Arabia, etc.)

Sorry for the vent here, but just couldn’t not say something after the most recent game where my Mongol eco was destroyed by having not one market on the map and it being too late to swap up to a 2 TC style boom.

Whole maps are quite unfair. Sometimes you have 3 big gold spawns behind your tc, and your enemy doesnt have s*** and even that is in front of the base. Same with sheep, relics, deep water fish, wood, stone, beerys. = seeds are just unfair in every way, please get static maps for ranked matches.

Ran into an odd issue where a forest cleared by the AI (Rus) blocked my French units from seeing past the former treeline in certain positions:

The monk and cannon were unable to see past the ghost trees from where they are standing while the arbaletriers could once they passed a certain point.

Had an interesting game in Quick Play. It was a 1v1 where I was playing Rus and my opponent was playing Mongols. My opponent spawned with three 8K gold patches on their spawn island, and additional patches on the neighboring island. My spawn island had no gold patches, and there were none on my neighboring island either.

It will be more helpful if you give the map seed

@Violaccountant we are looking at unfair spawns, but @PeacefulCap2829 is correct…map seeds are super helpful.

A thread for people to post their encounters with bad map generation.

My first one I don’t have a screen of, but it was a mountain pass map where the each team had 3-4 small gold deposits on their side, we had one large deposit . . . the other team had 5. . . .
