Due to the recent update and the low population of Mouse and Keyboard players on Xbox, it is impossible to find a game simply because controller players have a setting “controller only” enabled with cross network off.
I’ve tried different game modes such as 1v1 2v2 3v3 4v4 (RM and QM) with or without Xbox friends, same result. All because of this newly added setting “controller only”.
I’ve told my friends that they can only play without me because I’m the one blocking us finding a game due to this setting that everybody has. Mouse and Keyboard on console is now obsolete and I sincerely hope that everyone on Xbox can have the setting adjusted to “All input” with cross network toggled off.
Turning cross network on is out of the question because I won’t give my controller friends the pain to play against PC players just because I’m the one with that issue.
I won’t give up and I hope the devs will allow me to play this game again with my friends.

Your reasoning for not making your friends play cross network is the very reason your request will never happen. Even if it did, you are subjecting your friends to the same fate i.e. playing against mouse and keyboard players. There is no solution to what you are asking.
Using a mouse and keyboard to play against xbox controller players gives you an extremely unfair advantage. I can certainly understand why this would be off by default. I would suggest you play cross-platform with pc players or start using a controller.

Then I don’t know why they supported Mouse and Keyboard at all at release if they just not let us matchmake.
The unfair advantage between Controller and PC is there for sure but the problem is that I cannot find M&K players at all either.
As far as I know, cross platform is enabled by default for PC players. Enable it for yourself and you will have an easier time finding games.
The only comment id say is that when and if they ever give us m&k users on console an actual UI to play with. Then id be happy to compete against pc players.
The ui difference is actually hilariously bad.
-Cannot build monks from grand winery with byzantines
-Cannot use shield wall after building cistern of the first hall
-cannot switch to fire mode with manjaniqs if you upgrade fortified seige toggle thing in siegeworks for ayyubids.
-cannot see displayed player names/civs/age or score on any game mode no matter what with any civ.
Im sure ive missed some others or havent run into them as im still trying my best to play every civ but they do a darn good job making them all very different to master.
Tldr: you shouldnt be complaing about not being able to play with your controller friends. You should be complaining about what i have listed first.
