This is by far the best interview yet. It made me excited to play and confirmed that we are buying into more than just a reskin. Really looking forward to seeing the new campaign environments.

Excellent news. Can’t wait to hear the spoken narratives.

Very excited, Cant wait to jump in.

Great to hear about the new graphic objects and campaign updates! Very pleased to learn of the improvements- we are definitely getting more than just shiny new graphics!

Hopefully he does a btter job than they did on AoM ToTD, that campaign is a complete mess.

A new screenshot would be worth a thousand words

Dear Jennifer,
We write you from University of Cantabria… We are working on a research where our students have selected AoE as one of their most memorable game experiences for promoting civic competence.
We kindly ask you if you can please put us in touch with any person involved in the development of the game (any version will work) in order he or she can answer eight short questions by email. This short interview is part of a broader study where we aim to obtain guidelines from players, developers and academic experts on how to develop game experiences that may promote civic competence.
We are aware that these professionals may not be experts on education and/or civic and social competence but we’ll be reaching them as highly qualified professionals just to get their personal and professional input.
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
As academics (and fans of your products) this would mean a lot.
Jorge Oceja and Natalia González

This sounds very exciting! Can’t wait to try the new campaigns!

Bearable…
Not bad!

Question!
Do you have a new campaign?
So: A missing campaign expansion that is still in the history of the era.

This leaves me very excited for singleplayer. Building off the original scenarios but making small adjustments so missions play better or are more unique from others is exactly what the campaigns need - essentially a freshening up. I’m very glad they’re not too conservative and have the guts to make some changes where needed, if done right this can end up really good. Hopefully this means they will play around with the pop-limit too and not have it be static throughout, some maps work really well with the original 50 while others could benefit greatly from an increase.

Can’t wait. Very exciting!

Sounds good.

Would love to know if you’re also adding in a remaster of the Hittite campaign that came with the demo of the original. Have some great memories of playing that campaign before going out and buying the full game.

They are  They will also include the Punic Wars which was the demo campaign for the expansion.

The only ones that will be missing from official ES content (as far as I know) is the ‘Dawn of Civilization’ campaign that was made to show at some gameshow before the release of aoe1 iirc. It was a five mission campaign, three of the missions are very very similar to missions from the Egypt campaign - but the last two missions were unique and pretty extensive. I also think ‘Bronze Age - Art of War’ will be missing, which was just a single mission that ES made to showcase some big battles.

Quite happy they opted for voiced narration and aesthetic touches to the maps, but I hope they haven’t made the campaigns easier than they originally were. Some Yamato and Babylon missions were punishing, but that’s how I’d prefer them to be.

Hi team, Keep it coming! Keep updating making it better!
