Microsoft online vs. Steam Friends possible?

Hello everyone,

I try to play Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition vs. my Friends. The problem we have is that they have got the steam version, I got the microsoft version and we can’t find each others Games. What is goin wrong? Cross Playing in Options is already activated and Version is nearly the same. (I got 101.101.36202.0 0 and the steam players got 101.101.36202.0 4819260 but I have no update available in Store?)

Is it possible to play online vs. steam players with the microsoft version? Could someone please explain me how? I really don’t get it.

Kind regards

Hi @SammywaYne, Age of Empires II: DE offers crossplay between the Microsoft Store and Steam version of the game. Have you tried copying the Game I.D. from your hosted lobby and sending it to your friends to search on the lobby? That appears to work for some players who are unable to find each other’s lobbies.

Wow thanks for this fast reply. Unfortunately we can’t find each others ID also. :frowning: This is really frustrating…

I have seen players post on the forums that they have had success joining lobbies from https://aoe2.net/#aoe2de-lobbies, but I haven’t tried it myself personally.

Update your game : https://www.ageofempires.com/news/aoe2de-update-36202/

They already have the latest update installed.

@SammywaYne have you tried sending an invite to your friends from within your hosted lobby?

Can’t invite my steam friends but they can invite me. Weird solution, but as long as it works… Thanks a lot!
