for the cost of a paladin i can get easily 2 champions who do 21 damage a swing WITHOUT upgrades, and take ZERO BONUS damage back, meanwhile Paladins take extra damage from Eagles.

and? They have the mobility which is better than extra damage. Camels eat Paladins better, because they are faster. +3 damage vs Heavy Cav does nothing, only good vs Hussars.
the problem with the training is mainly due to the unit being available in all 4 ages, so of course its going to take some extra time to research.
yeah, they also pay for that in COST. again for the cost of a knight i could easily get 2 champions, and have some resources left over, and you already know i’m all for buffing the speed of champs up a little bit.
they were going to buff squires to %15. they changed this idea in the last time before out anniversay patch. i hope they will buff speed of them and give some discount to supplies or health increasing for LS, ths, champ
But that’s their opening move, to attack. Anything else is just reactionary or guesswork. It seems odd for infantry civs to go for xbows rather than infantry which they have bonuses for. That’s either because the militia line is underpowered, the archer line is overpowered, or both.
And Huskarls do fine against Eagles. If I don’t have enough resources for a Castle it’s because I got counter raided or didn’t raid hard enough… then it’s usually GG unless there are teammates to pick up the slack while I’m stuck defending with pikes or skirms.

because infantry in this game is and always has been a support unit. why do you think the militia line is created so much faster and so much cheaper then archer units? its actually created at about the same speed as trash and counter units are, hmm, wonder why that is.
they do fine, but they aren’t as good as long swords, which are cheaper. a LS costs only 14 gold (huskarl 26), and they 15 damage a swing (compared to the huskarls 12).
most people don’t drop a castle the moment they hit castle age.

This is not how the game works. Mobility civs use their mobility and raid. You cant wall vs 60 El dorado eagles unless its bf

if they have 60 eagles you certainly have had time to wall up enough to hold them long enough to get your army in position to kill them the moment they bust that wall down.
oh also saw a couple games during KotD3 where eagles were effectively neutralized by…GASP the militia line.
so guess they can work at the highest level, so this sounds entirely like a YOU issue.

No, you need 75 villagers for 60 eagles and 25 farms. You won’t boom until 150 villager. How many games out of 30? Don’t link me Dracken’s Hoang rush.
Even T90 stated that go raid with Eagles instead of attacking.
and if they’ve gotten to 60 eagles then you’ve certainly had time to wall enough that you can hold to get your army in position.
obviously, but the fact is that if they are at 60 eagles you’ve had more then enough time to prepare for that.
75 villagers and how much time? those eagles take a lot of gold and also take a long time to train.
well yeah that’s kind of what they are designed for, but if i’m walled up i can easily maneuver my army into position to slaughter them when they come through the hole they make.

Pretty sure huscarls have an extra damage per swing than longswords…
Most civs don’t drop a castle, but Goths kinda have to. You can’t rely on any other unit for long, and once anarchy is researched you don’t need to make any more. No stone walls, so even a defensive castle makes sense to defend your base from raids while I can raid theirs with huskarls imperviously
Longswords 9 damage + 6 bonus damage vs eagles.
Huskarls 10 damage + 2 bonus damage vs eagles.

For Castle age:
We all know LS not usable for castle age. Job of militia-line is killing trashes. they can’t make any job cause there is no trash units on field at all. cost of it (60f) very high for castle age, hard to mass. food and wood more important on Catle Age than gold.
have no mobility. infantry civs won’t use Ls, only will use siege of them, some pike and knights( like clets,slavs, teutons)
For İmperial age:
they are going to be more viable for imp, but very hard to transition for killing just some trashes. because research time 260 vs 270 sec of knights and high upgrade cost 1350f 555 gold vs 1600f 1050g knight line upgrades. this much upgrade cost and research time only for kill trashes (rarely eagles) and very slow for kill trashes near of Knight or Archers of Enemy

my suggestions: - Speed buff, 1 or 0.95(not sure) for LongSword, THS and Champs
- decrease supplies cost
- decrease research time of champ, ths upgrades or cost
minute 30, 60 elite eagles with el dorado? go ahead and show me it happening. i want to see this. eagles have literally 35 second training time as is, and 60 eagles even double barracks, is going to take over 15 minutes to train, and your opponent just sits there and lets you do that? they completely deserve to get wrecked in that situation.

No need for El Dorado and you don’t care about training time when you have 7 rax. You get the last armor and go raid.
