We’ve all noticed how Age of Empires has been revitalized in recent months with improvements in key areas and how the release of the latest DLC have brought new energy and attracted fresh players.
But it’s often the small, immersive touches that determine whether those players stick around or just pass through.
Here are a few changes I think could really help deepen that immersion and overall experience.

- Idle TC time
Sacred sites
You need to right-click on the sacred site with your religious units in order to convert it, so they don’t accidentally trigger it just by walking over it while searching for relics.
Dinasty
Any visual way to tell which dynasty the opponent is in? (when playing against Chinese with Zhu Xi)
Leaderboard
Integrate the leaderboard into the game. Having it only on the website makes little sense and breaks immersion.
Biome
Random biome option in Skirmish games
Groups
Groups shouldn’t be disbanded when a player exits to main lobby from the post-game stats section.
Reconnect feature
Add a reconnect feature so players can rejoin if they disconnect briefly.
Replay system
Add a replay system with controls to rewind, fast-forward, change speed, and jump to specific moments.
