Missing UI Elements

  • Game Version: v100.17.22308.0

  • Build Number: 481060R

  • Platform: Steam

  • Operating System: Windows 11

Issue:

I am reporting this for my brother who is the one with the issue.

My brother was unable to see his control groups, and the Villager Priority button was also missing, even with the required game settings on (images below). The Villager Priority button was also missing most of the time in the previous patch, but it was playable without that - not so much the control group visuals.
We tried a number of things in attempt to get them to show again, until finally figuring out that restoring settings to default, solved it.

  • Disabled all mods, later deletion of all mods from drive.
  • Verify Game Files multiple times, with no files re-downloaded.
  • Restart game multiple times.
  • Re-install game.
  • Restart PC multiple times.

Also did the following, as we first thought the control group issue was unrelated to the villager control button, but after figuring out that it was visual, we think they are related.

  • Played with / without Steelseries GG.
  • Changing the hotkey for creation of a group to some key without Ctrl or Shift.

When pressing Shift + # or Ctrl + # to create a group, the sound that is normally played on creation of a group is played. The keyboard buttons where groups are saved works fine, even though they are not visually there on screen.

Below are images showing that the Village Priority is turned on, but the button is not showing.

Trigger Event:

I have shared his UserProfile.xml, with all his settings, if your are interested in it for Reproduction. I tested replacing my file with his, and experienced the same issue. When I then replaced the file with my original one, I still had the issue. Only after restoring to default, and then replacing with my original file, did the issue get resolved.

Something in THAT file corrupts/breaks something across starts of game/pc, which is only cleared by restoring to default.

Repro Steps:

  1. Overwrite with the supplied UserProfile.xml file.
  2. Start any Scenario, with Villager Priority turned on.
  3. See that the Villager Priority button is not showing.

I can add that since i posted this, he has had to restore default settings twice that i know of, as the Villager Priority button keeps vanishing during play, without him making any changes to his settings.

Hi!

Is this issue present with a small minimap?

We mainly use the small minimap, so i’d say so, but i have asked by brother to verify.

We have both now seen that when the minimap is enlarged the Villager Priority button is gone. I do seem to remeber it being gone with the small minimap when i reproduced the issue with the supplied settings file.

Someone mentioned that if the minimap is large at the end of the previous game, then the control groups won’t be present on the current game. I haven’t tested this yet, but I can confirm that I had visible control groups until recently, and I also recently changed to large minimap, so chances are the two are correlated.

Just tested it, when I enlarge the minimap, the villager priority button disappears, when I shrink the minimap, it appears again.

Yes we have also seen the button vanish when enlarging the minimap, as you did.

We did however also have the button vanish while on the small minimap, with the supplied settings file, remaining until the settings was cleared by reseting to default.

Can confirm that this is due to the zoomed in minimap.

This can cause two scenarios:

Scene one, Minimap is small at start of match:

Step one) Enlarge Minimap
Step two) Observe that the Villager AI button has gone missing
Step three) Zoom out of minimap
Step four) Observe return of Citizen control UI
Step five) Make sure to end the match with the minimap enlarged to set up the next scenario.

Scene two, Minimap is enlarged at the beginning of the match:

Step one) Observe lack of Citizen Control UI
Step two) Observe lack of grouping UI
step three) Reduce minimap
Step four) Observe UI elements are still missing.

Scenario two i likely what the supplied settings file is triggering.
I can’t remember if the minimap was enlarged when loading in while having those settings though, but i suspect it was.
