Mod request : Merge 3 civs from the same region

This is on my head since 2018. A mod that will merge 3 civs from the same region into 1 civ. The merged civ will have all the bonuses, UTs, UUs and UBs of the individual civs. As for tech tree, the merged civ will get the best tech tree of that building from individual civs. For example “Merged American” civ will get both Gambeson and Halberdier because Aztecs have Gambeson and rest 2 have Halberider.

A civ can be considered in different region. For example Berbers can be merged with Middle Eastern civs or African or maybe even Iberian Peninsula. But you can’t pick more than 15 regions and must need to add all existing 45 civs.

What region do you think will be the strongest? Give me your thoughts.

Steppe. Tatar, Mongol, Magyar.

Scout opening would be pretty good, but the late game comp would be insane.

Magyar huszar backed by mangudai with +1range, +1atk, and +2/3 armor sounds insane.

Also flaming camels with drill could be interesting.

This combo feels like cheating. Mongols age up with faster hunting and then Magyars discounted scout with Free Forging is already hard to defend. Then wait for SL with free Iron Casting.

How would you arrange rest of the 42 civs though?

I forgot about Magyar free attack upgrades. Ok yeah their scout opening would be insane too

Even if they missed all the techs each individual civ is missoing they would barely feel it

So I’ve been wondering if replacing Tatars with Turks would be even better.

Definitely pros and cons (or maybe pros and khans), but the big thing you’d gain is BBC with 14 range AND drill.

Or I can just cheat and have all four.

I’ll take may 4 civ Steppe coalition and go against the entire world.

Teutons, Poles, Lithuanians : Prussians

The main unit will be paladins, FU with

  • teutonic +2 armour
  • lithuanian up to +4 attack with relics
  • polish -60% gold discount
  • and they better resist conversion

If you somehow run out of gold, winged hussars take the best from both civs and also the teutonic bonus. The economy is very strong with polish mining, unique mill and teutonic farm discount.

Strong infantry & siege, decent archers too.

I’m still trying to fit all 45 in 15 regions. I can’t handle so many European civs and not even sure how many regions I’ll pick for them. Here is my progress so far -

  1. Americans = Aztecs, Mayans, Incas
  2. Sino = Chinese, Japanese, Koreans (Will be changed pretty soon. 11)
  3. SEA = Malay, Khmer, Vietnamese
  4. SA = Burmese, Bengalis, Dravidians
  5. West India, East Iran = Gurjaras, Hindustanis, Persians
  6. Steppe = Mongols, Tatars/Cumans, Magyars/Huns
  7. Turkic = Turks, Tatars/Cumans, Huns/Magyars
  8. Caucasian = Armenians, Georgians, Byzantines
  9. African = Saracens, Ethiopians, Malians
  10. Iberian = Berbers, Spanish, Portuguese
  11. Italians = Italians, Sicilians, Romans
  12. West European = Britons, Franks, Burgundians
  13. North European = Celts, Goths, Vikings
  14. Prussian = Teutons, Bohemians, Lithuanians
  15. Slavic = Slavs, Bulgarians, Poles

I’d propose something different. Romans+Byzantines. You get the Unified Roman Empire

Maybe also Teutons+Franks, because they both come from the Frankish Empire.

Celt + Frank + Britain → pretty open tech tree

  1. Baltic‑Slavic Alliance: (Poles, Slavs, Lithuanians)
  2. Asian Convergence: (Burmese, Bengalis, Chinese)
  3. Crescent Coalition: (Saracens, Persians, Ethiopians)
  4. Steppe Horde: (Huns, Tatars, Cumans)
  5. Western Kingdoms: (Spanish, Franks, Burgundians)
  6. Subcontinental Alliance: (Hindustanis, Gurjaras, Dravidians)
  7. Balkan Alliance: (Bulgarians, Magyars, Byzantines)
  8. Black Sea Alliance: (Turks, Georgians, Armenians)
  9. Southeast Asia Coalition: (Malay, Vietnamese, Khmer)
  10. East Asian Coalition: (Koreans, Mongols, Japanese)
  11. Teutonic Alliance: (Bohemians, Teutons, Goths)
  12. New World Empires: (Aztecs, Mayans, Incas)
  13. Northern Coalition: (Vikings, Britons, Celts)
  14. Atlantic Rim Alliance: (Portuguese, Malians, Berbers)
  15. Roman Legacy: (Italians, Sicilians, Romans)

Meh Italians and Sicilians in this game have virtually nothing in common with Romans. I’d have a focus on the timeframe rather than geography there and put Romans (and/or Byzantines) with Huns and Goths. These civs have more in common with each others than Goths with Teutons or Huns with Turks.
Nice thread idea though.

No offence, I just realized Tatars is the worst option that you have chosen. Cumans/Huns/Turks all are better option.

Cumans with their cheaper stable and faster scout is the best one to make the scout rush ultra super broken. Huns is the second best choice for even faster age up thanks to not building any house. Though I think Cumans is definitely better between these two. Lastly Turks won’t help for faster age up but +1 PA and free upgrade in Castle Age definitely worth more than Tatars slowly saved wood.

The firepower Momgols and Magyars can gice is imo way better than what Vumans and Turks bring to the table

Wouldn’t it be more interesting to do the opposite, combine the missing technologies.
Adding 3 civs together will often give you a very open techtree which would be boring.

Combined bonuses with combined missing technologies would be pretty interesting.
