Issue:
Modding music does not work properly. Attempting to replace music and placing it in a matching directory structure like the one found in game\sound\Sound.bar does not work properly. The only tracks that seem to allow being modified are the culture jingles.
You can get around this by creating a new Sound.bar with the latest version of AOE III DE Resource Manager and replacing the one in the game\sound directory. This isn’t ideal, however, as the intent for mod support like this is to get around needing to hard mod assets. This does not work when trying to make this into a mod, either, so the core issue remains where some sound mods appear to be ignored by the game.
I have other sound mods installed that seem to mostly function as intended, but with a few changed files being ignored (off the top of my head, Athena’s dialogue cannot be overridden with a mod).
Is there some sort of integrity check in place for certain sounds? You would think this would be disclosed somewhere if that were the case. At the same time, however, you would also think replacing Sound.bar outright would fail those checks.
