With so many updates to modding, does anyone know if it’s possible to modify the unit models themselves? I’m looking to swap the head of the Regent model to the Champion Hoplite model for a more distinctive/better crest.
Totally doable, we can export models out of the game and import them back.
Do you know how to do this, or where I could find a detailed tutorial on how to achieve what I’m looking to? I can’t seem to find anything about how to actually do it.
What I’d like to see is someone make a tiger as a wild animal unit using the jaguar model the new DLC introduced. I assume all you’d really have to do was create a new texture for the model.
It’s certainly possible - I managed to accomplish what I was intending with the helmet crest, and though it was just a very easy and simple change, working it out has opened up big possibilities tbh. I think a tiger as a wild animal for Chinese maps could be awesome, might look into it!
Does anyone know how to make a model of my own work? My game no longer identify new models
You need to make sure your fbx is scaled properly and the model is triangulated on export, otherwise the in-editor converter won’t work.
You can use the editor to generate the needed fbximport files. They even added hotswap capability for models, so you don’t have to quit the game every time you export the fbx and reconvert it.
You also need to use the tools to generate a simdata file and modelmanifest file, or the game could crash on load.
@PadtheLad12 do a google search for Crybar Editor (there’s also a link in these forums) made by Cryshana, that has tools for extracting and converting TMM models to GLB and OBJ, GLBs can have all the units textures and animations baked into them.
Aye thank you mate, I managed to get it done about a week ago just through sheer trial and error! But knowing the basics opens the doors to many possibilities!
Yeah, i’ve managed to get a custom unit into the game, the only problem i’m having now is the attach points aren’t being recognised (empties/dummies in blender). I asked the lead artist on AOMRT on Artstation how to do it, but he hasn’t responded yet.
Annoyingly, my mod has now broken since the patch…..
