Mods are no longer auto-updating when launching the game. Previously, the game would check for mod updates on startup and automatically download the latest versions. After the latest patch, this behavior no longer occurs.
Users must now manually go into the Mods section and check/update each mod individually. This is causing version mismatches especially for multiplayer sessions using data mods.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS)
REPRODUCTION STEPS
Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:
Install or subscribe to a mod (any mod with a known updated version).
Launch the game.
Do not manually check the Mods menu.
Attempt to host or join a lobby using that mod.
Observe that the mod has not auto-updated and may cause version mismatch
Go to the Mods menu and manually update it, confirming the auto-update did not occur on launch.
EXPECTED RESULT
The game should automatically check for and download the latest versions of installed mods when launching, ensuring all players have matching versions without manual intervention.
This bug is so annoying. People don’t understand why I need to kcik them from lobbies when they don’t speak english. Explaining to unsubscribe from a mod then re-subscribe is a complex thing. Can you please make some kind of automated test that runs each release to make sure these don’t keep coming back with each patch?
@Felizon89 there is a very closely related issue as well which is that if you host the latest version of a data mod but people who join don’t have it updated (even with the above bug fix it could still happen if the mod updates before they re-launch their client) then it only errors when you try and start the game after everyone is ready. They then need to leave the lobby and manually update it, which slows the whole lobby process down a lot and confuses most people, who inevitably get impatient. Many people can’t figure out the process of finding and manually updating the mod and they don’t end up re-joining. I would expect the game to detect this when they join the lobby and automatically update their data mod (with a confirmation prompt) so they don’t need to lose their place in a lobby. Should I make a new separate bug report for that?
It is happening to me as well. Today i hosted to play the game on sunday. I had 6/8 players of my lobby with outdated mod, they left and didn’t come back and made me wait another 10 minutes to start.
Bugs like this are game killer, fix please and fast enough so it doesn’t kill whats remaining of the modding community.
