Discuss MoozillaMapMod
Apologies to anyone who tried to play this weekend, the previous update made it unplayable. This is now fixed so everything should work as intended.
So far there are 2 maps; Laurentia and Ungava.
Hi Mooz1lla
Your map Laurentia looks really nice, but it doesn’t seem to be compatible with the starting condition ‘Nomad’ properly.
I tried to play a x3 FFA and Players 1 and 2 don’t start with a unit to construct a Town Center, only Player 3 does. I believe it maybe caused by the RMS attempting to spawn the unit, but it can’t because the unit would spawn inside a forest, as the trees and the explorer are grouped very close together on start. You might need to implement a constraint to either spawn the starting units first and prevent forests from spawning within a range, or spawn the forest first, and then move the spawning location somewhat to prevent the conflict.
I think I’ve fixed it so that all the starting units will all show up on nomad now. Let me know if you’re still having issues.
Thanks so much for the detailed response, it made it easy to figure out what was wrong. Turns out I only had a constraint to avoid Town Centers for the main forest area and was missing a constraint to avoid starting units. So normal starts worked fine, but on nomad, forests could end up spawning on top of the starting units and deleting them.
I played an initial test and it seems to be working great so far. Thank you for the quick response and fix. Looking forward to future maps.
No worries. Originally, I began dabbling with RMS to make custom maps with the disc version of AoE3. When I moved over to AoE3DE, it initially appeared that I wouldn’t be able to make maps anymore, so I abandoned further learning and projects. But now that I know it is possible to make custom maps for the Definitive Edition, I might look into restarting the learning. I just don’t know how to make it a mod yet. But my point is, because of that prior learning, it was easier for me to understand what was happening, and so I could provide you with that information. Keep up the great work.
[EDIT]: I’ll keep an eye on the native settlements. One game, a settlement got a little close but caused no conflict yet.
make brasil maps please with biomes caatinga, amazonico , cerrado and pampas
I don’t have much variation in the placement of natives and have them placed before the player starts so I don’t think there should be a risk of this (If anything, the native site would get deleted). But let me know if you do have issues with this.
Do you have any ideas for layouts for these maps? I’m probably going to stick with areas with more distinctive geography to start out with and I’m not sure if these stand out much. For Brazilian locations, regions like Roraima or Pantanal look like a more interesting place to start.
Easiest thing to do I’ve found is to class all starting resources the same and add the nomad wagon to that. Edit: I forgot to finish my thought - then constrain all objects that spawn to avoid that class.
Are the maps compatible with all weird team configs?
posso te ajudar com ideias irei postar brevemente alguns layouts
That’s more or less what I had done, I just forgot to add that constraint to the forest area.
Technically yes, but anything other than 2 teams just places the same as FFA so teams might not be placed side by side. I should probably try to improve that in the future.
… actually now that I think about it, 1 vs 7 or 2 vs 6 might cause some people in the big team to get crowded out. I better check that it still works in those configurations.
If you’re having trouble with crowding, consider having the TCs and starting units all spawn in a loop and then a second loop for the starting resources.
check my message for you
