Mountain dunes TC arrows bug

On 3-4 separate games on the Mountain Dunes map, the TC behaves weirdly when tasked to shoot an elephant. The arrows are visible 5 tiles away and the boar often takes 0 damage.

I just tested on single player and was able to reproduce the bug on the first try. Tried to see if this is related to the TC being on elevation - this bug did not occur on Acropolis. However, on acropolis, the starting elevation of the boars is similar to the TC, while on mountain dunes, the boar is initially at a much lower elevation on the TC - was unable to test further as i don’t know how to use the map editor well enough to move boars around.

This isn’t the most urgent issue, but it has cost me a villager or the whole boar on more than one occasion.

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Load a game on mountain dunes
  2. Lure an elephant
  3. Garrison vils in the TC and right click the elephant when it is under your TC.

Arrows should target the elephant, and the elephant should take a consistent, expected amount of damage

Hi devs, this issue occurred in a major warlords qualifier yesterday (Situax vs Daut, decider game). Here is a 22 second clip from Memb’s broadcast:

As a result of this bug, Sitaux lost his boar and the admins had to intervene and call a restart of the game.

Again, the issue occurs when:

  • TC is on high ground
  • Boar starting position is at lower elevation than the TC
  • Shooting the boar with TC results in really strange arrow behavior that can significantly impact the game result as a vil and a boar may be lost.

As this occurs only on some niche maps, it probably isnt the highest priority. However, since it is so easily 100% reproducible, it might be quite easy to diagnose and maybe even fix. On the maps where it occurs, it occurs every single time and usually has game ending consequences. Request a dev to please add this somewhere in the backlog.
