Issue: Multiplayer Game Out of Sync
Multiple custom multiplayer games with 2 humans vs 2 (or more) bots eventually encounter sync issues and are forced to reload, sometimes numerous times per individual game. This issue has reoccurred in ~6 out of 7 games played.
Resolution steps attempted:
- Change hosting player (includes Windows 11 Home, Windows 11 Pro, and Xbox One Series X players).
- Non-hosts closing & reloading game after error occurs.
- Various maps, pantheons, difficulty settings for bots, etc.
No change in behavior occurs. A multiplayer game setup the same without a 2nd human connected is able to run without sync issues occurring.
After reloading the automatic save file, a several minute process, error is likely to reoccur. Sometimes within seconds, other times after 5-10 minutes.
Trigger Event:
Unknown trigger, occurs most frequently when engaging in combat. This could, however, be related to unit counts, play time, etc. as players remain fairly consistent. Most often around the 25 - 35 minute marks.
Repro Steps:
- Play a multiplayer game with another human.
Relation to Known Issue: Windows 11 Update causes a desync when in a lobby with players on a different version of Windows
The description of the known issue implies “instant desync”, my issue is not occurring instantaneously but after extended play.
