Multiple production buildings don't produce units same time?

I have four stables. I double click on one and it seems to select all four (white box around them).

I hit a key to produce units and sometimes on stable produces a unit, then the next, then the other two do nothing.

I have three barracks, double click them to select all three (white box around them) and I hit a key to produce spearmen and only one building produces a unit.

I thought you could have two or three or four buildings and have them create units simultaneously?

I have all the resource I need to produce three or four units at a time.

I’ve realized you can’t produce a big enough army with only one production building for each unit type and am trying to get to the next level.

All comments welcome.

Oh this is weird. I find out that you if you hit ‘w’ to produce a unit when all four production buildings are selected you only get one unit from one building.

But if you ‘shift w’ to create five units all buildings create five units at the same time.

So you can’t have four buildings create one unit each? Seems odd, but ok.

It spreads the units evenly across the buildings. So if you had 4 barracks selected and pressed Shift + Q twice you would queue 10 spearman across the entire group.

2 of them would have 3 spearman in queue, 2 would have 2 (totaling 10 spearman in queue).

This is the way almost every RTS works. Because it’s much better than the alternative.

When you push a hotkey to make a unit one time, you should expect exactly one unit to be made, not some variable amount of units based on how many buildings you happen to have selected.

However many times you push the button, you will get that anount of units. They will be spread evenly across all the buildings you have selected (holding shift is the same as pushing it 5 times).

The alternative is very annoying. Having to manually select exactly X buildings if you want to make X units simultaneously.

It works fine bro. If you have enough resources, it will queue 1 unit on the first, then 1 on the 2nd, 1 on the 3rd, etc. If you want all 3-4 buildings to produce units you must queue 3-4 units. You can’t just press Q and expect that all buildings produce 1 unit each, you have to press it 3 or 4 times.

Don’t think like “I want all buildings to produce X amount of units”, think like “I want to produce X amount of units”. They will just spread across all selected buildings in the most efficient way.
