My Thoughts After Beating The New Mythic Battle(Silent Sanctuary)

Per the title I beat Silent Sanctuary first on Titan and then again on Ludicrous. For the most part I liked it. I enjoyed the cutscene dialogue, they did a good job with the delivery of the jokes(Chiron made me chuckle).

I thought that the level was well designed. Several interesting POI’s that gave you a good reason to explore the map. Lots of herdables that allow you to test out the new Demeter favor mechanic which I thought was cool. Good base location where enemies can attack from multiple fronts. My two complaints are that the wasn’t a lot of hunt on the map which means you can’t get good use out of your Lycoans. Also that there wasn’t another good place to use the Wither god power since they gave you another use for free (after the first initial use).

The pacing was entertaining for me. I always had plenty to do and never felt bored or had to wait for certain things to finish (timers for example). I liked that the map allowed you to use all the new units and god powers. Like how they had a relic where you couldn’t get to it with any hero except Icarus. Or at the end when Hades dumps a ton of units in your base then you can use the Underworld Invasion GP.

My main complaint is that even on Ludicrous it’s too easy. The objective to keep your temple alive is never really an issue. The enemies sent in a few armies but none that I ever felt threatened by. I feel like it would have been better if maybe they occasionally sent some siege or heavy myth units (as Arkantos likes to say) to attack your temple. Maybe have that Titan that is in Hades base come down with the army as soon as the wall gets destroyed to try and take down your temple.

Overall I really enjoyed the new Mythic Battle and I am glad that they have decided to keep adding more to it. I think they are a really fun way to introduce us to new major gods. As well as all of their units and god powers. I like how they showed you the Siren was amphibious for example. Let me know what y’all think about the level design. What you liked and what could be improved or changed. I will make another post about my thoughts on new units and god powers. Since there is a lot to discuss there.

I feel like they did this so you would be more inclined to farm and see Demeter’s bonus of double stacking farmers onto farms. However, I agree that there was a lack of Lycoan use. It resulted in me just sending them in the middle of the battlefield to aggressively take TCs a little bit quicker then waiting for my army to clear it out to make it safe for villis.

TBH I found it boring.

They really need to stop placing villagers in attack paths. This is their only trick to make those engaging and has been done to death.

That’s fair. I hadn’t considered the farm mechanic (I honestly forgot to use it). I need to test that out and see how good/bad it is. I’m hoping the villagers don’t act retarded with pathfinding on one farm. If I have time tomorrow I will check it out and see how it is.

What would you change to make it more difficult or interesting? I don’t mind having vills easily accessible to raids. It makes it so that I have to pay more attention and in this one specifically it allows you to test out the new Lykaons. So I enjoyed it myself.

More side objectives that make you move out or simply stronger attacks that actually threaten your army.

I agree that they needed stronger attacks but the map seemed pretty full of side quests and objectives.

This scenario was more about teaching what the new gods do, basically. It was so easy on ludicrous i even had enough time to build a wonder. I just wish those mythic battles would simply save you the chore of moving your eco to safer places and not have all your villagers directly into the enemy attack paths.

I don’t quite understand your problem. What’s wrong with gold mines being in the way of attacks?

It’s just been done to death and it’s getting bored. If i wanted vil harassment I’d play pvp. The mythical battle should be something different. The norse one was somewhat better in this regard.
