Mythical and Heroic Godpowers

I feel like some mythic godpowers even some heroic problems, swing the tidal of the game so hard, that pratically reduces the “strategy” in game to a 1- click and the whole game is done.

Being victim and the perpetrator of some one - click games (ranked games)
I feel like maybe a time delay for using them after aging up would make the trick, or even putting an indicator that your enemy is aging up
Another thing that i though is that maybe these godpowers should not be as destructive as they are like, like instead of a rain of meteors, just throw a single meteor at a reduced cost or instead a one big tornado, small tornados that could be somewhat spammable.
I realized that some godpowers have more time to react than others, like lighting storm from hera, gives a time to try to escape but other ones are practically an insta kill like tornado or dragon typhon.

I feel that this changes could be just adjusted to ranked games, because I understand that as a casual player could just be fine.

Edit: Other option would be not giving a free cost of the first use

The Japanese Sword godpower is too situational if compared to something like Implosion, if the enemy split his army in time you’ve basically wasted your mythic-age godpower because it can completely miss his target, on the other hand escaping with your full army from Implosion is basically impossible after the recent patches from what I have seen so far.

Its kind of like the signature. Same for myth units. Competitive wise it makes total sense to tune them down so its more comparable the impact they have between them and you dont have this moments of “gotcha, gg ez” but theres actual cunterplay to be done so skill can be used to deal with something.

Currently some do have that aspect into them. Others are as you mention a win conditon in 2 clicks.

Looking from a none compettive standpoint, Most people enjoy their fantasy of destroying whole armies, bases, villagers with some god powers and its what they enjoy from this game and they are very vocal when god powers get tunned down, since AI or more casual players dont use them with the same timings as one would find in more competitive games its not as big of an issue.

We need an indication on the TC when aging up.

The GPs are ok if you know when they are coming. Plus it rewards scouting.

Not really. What’s needed is the damage caps added back to the offensive god powers, which existed in TT but were removed in retold for kicks and giggles.

This has always sounded as a good idea to me. From a simple bar completing as if it was “loading” to a more structured system of like a statue of the minor god completing. Anything that diminishes the well “if he aged up 5 sec later i would have won”, “if he aged up 5 sec faster i would have lost”

To me its kind of the same way you can see in AoEIV the foundations for what takes you to the next age, you can see it be built you can see what it is and its progress.

Ofc this requires effort to make but it would be nice if you could scout this. Incentivizes player skill expression as you mention and it also gives new light to certin god powers so its not a coinflip to guess which tc is aging up.

Imagine if your advancing in Age and someone can tell what town center your advancing into the Mythic Age with and then targets it with a destructive god power and stops you from aging. That would suck and can cost you the game. Either way someone wont like destructive god powers being able to have such a huge impact.

Spread your bases out and don’t build everything in close proximity in one area. Also destructive God powers are only good when they’re used correctly. The majority of games they’re only used once or twice, as there all hella expensive to recast. Not to mention I’ve lost games were I used them too early, missed my target, or use them in an area where it wasnt detrimental to my opponent. Most of the time they don’t really change the tides of the battle much at all. Its a funny delete button that decimates whole armies buut either me or my opponent has enough recources that they make a replacement army really quicky, it give a small open window of oppurtunity to raid an enemy’s base.

I think it was buffed recently as it now comes out quicker as it was easy to dodge

Thats very true, i can see people not liking that to happen since it becomes more difficult and skill based. That said, currently its mostly luck based to do so, so it can also be anoying to know you lost the flip of the coin.

This is only really true when you struggle with macro and hoard resources. After a certain point players reach a gameplay that they are spending their resources effectively, armies come faster, so do age ups since theres less wasted resources. Here loosing your army often ends the game since you dont have the huge pile of resources to Just make it all again like you would when players are stocking resources in slower paced games.

True as gold is the one thing I struggle with in endgame
