I feel the same way, when I look at this compared to aoe2 it truly brings a tear to the eye.

I like water for me.
Lighter water is at the coast and darker far from the coast.
Shallow and depth.

Also, notice the ripples from the boats, the waves, the glare from the sun, the slight fog
This game is looking more and more like a 3D AoE2, I love it. Personally, that water looks better than AoE3 water

If I didn’t know that it is a war game, you could just sit in this fishing boat and relax by looking at the sea.

it seems they DID upgrade the water then, after all. WHich iis probably why they included the scene. To let us know. It seems there is no other way for them to do so

Age of 4 water mechanics are bad. Also reflections are bad. This is so clear from videos.
In physics, the reflection of an object in the sea is not something common. There must be some conditions for this to happen. Almost all the time there is just a shadow of the object. So, in reality, the games that have reflection models in the sea are not the realistic ones.
PS: The first time humanity searched about this event, was when a city started to reflect in water. Search if you want to internet. People were at shock because they could not understand from beginning what was this reflection.

Looks even better than Red Alert 3 water.
It is a pity that no one is interested in naval mechanics, and there is little that you can think of interesting with ships in the Middle Ages …
Even AoE 3 had people in the fishing boats. Honesty, and this is my opinion, this game is so mediocre that only mediocre people like it. Cant believe people is excited to play a copy of AoE 2 instead of a new game with todays features and innovation.
Because those games just don’t compare to AoE2? If you play an old game and a new game, which one will you play? The old game (which is more fun) or the new game (it has new features, ooo)
The only AoE3 boats with people inside are the canoes and the Asian fishing boats. Every other ship is empty.

well, age 3 surely looks more gritty/realistic. But Age 4 looks mre neat to be, more friendly, less cluttered
