I don’t know the rationale behind this random nerf. Cetan bows nerfed and the lakota migjt struggle vs fast melee infantry or musks now in age 2. And lakota doesn’t have musk itself.
Aenna is a very similar unit to cetan bows, with the same crappy animation, but is cheaper and moves faster, they still keep the 2x multiplier while they also have musks…this change is so inconsistent. The cetan is just,strictly worse version of aenna now
But aenna is 5 speed, and only cost food so it is cheaper. Aenna is 100f, cetans 65f 35w, so cetans are significantly more expensive. And aenna 5 speed vs 4.5 speed, 110 hp vs 100 hp despite being cheaper. I think the one need to be nerfed is aenna not cetan bows probably they messed up
Haude is infantry based with musk, lakota doesn’t have musk and is cav focused, so musk is naturally good vs lakota. Maybe they are pushing for the use of transforming card???
the issue isnt the aeena its the axe rider and explorer paired with the cetan
both have a terrible animation but extremely strong stats for the cost. the snaring potential of haude is usually limited to 4KH until mid game since KH are very painful to make off haudes eco (unless water)
Cetan, while wood sucks, are paired with cheap AR who lakota can pump more consistently thanks to hunting bonuses. add in tokala and in age2 those cetans have plenty of slow, stationary, and snared targets with cav that can tank in front. Makes them preform much easier than haudes for these reasons.
Still, less reason to bring seige archery for them lol
the speed of aenna is often oversold i feel, since the fact that you more often then not have them in groups with tommahawks and other infantry means the speed is negated since everyone is in formation.
contrast this, cetan is the slowest unit in age 2 for lakota, everying is faster, even the warchief buffs your speed (and they have a card later to buff speed again) so they actually get to use their speed more often then the aenna.
and while they only cost food, it also makes your eco very unbalanced if you want to mass them, and you rather want to make tommahawks rather then the aenna
its about the way the civ is structured rather then trying to make single unit comparisons
aenna for all its seeming craziness, is pretty mid in the haude civ (4 combat cards and affected by infantry breastplate and extra range)
cetan on the otherhand currently fits in a very strong niche for lakota, they clear the heavy infantry that counters age 2 lakota cav too well and therefore civs find it hard fight or escape a lakota timing
This patch they hit some of the stronger rush civs. Aztec and Lakota come to my mind first. It shows the direction they want the game to move in imo (or bias idk). Either way I still think Lakota rush will be decent. I think Platy above covered it well. Cetan were really strong when paired with AR. This will slow down their kill rate and allow more counterplay which was needed.
Aenna is by far worse considering the civ it is conjoined with. Were you to buff our economic momentum, then I’ll be more than be willing to talk. In teams it’s a nice unit (I like it), but in anything else you get a few of them & they’re barely able to make a difference.
When you have a semi-circle to have units fighting, that means only a certain number of units fire at that range & not all of them. With aenna having less damage, you lose out on positioning & have to spend that extra time getting into position - by which time an opponent’s units have kited!
The 100 food cost is actually a curse, Haude eco works on villes. You have 50 villes that are snipe-able/raidable around the map or opponent sends 1 water card to smash your fishing. Whilst half the civs get 20 villes & 4 trickles/aura gather buffs with base defence.
haude rush only problematic imho on water no water shipment point maps, where i can go a bit slower but have extra effective 5-7 vills allowing 2x rax full batches at 6min or so and just spam. otherwise its pretty much a basic rush where killing the 4 cav allows easy kiting and haude has meh seige so agras, towers, palace can hold a long time.
It is necessary to differentiate the light infantry units with delay in the first attack or static (lb, cetan, aenna…) from the units with almost no delay in the first attack such as the skirmisher or the Japanese Yumi.
So strange to see Sioux who are my favorite civilization from legacy AoE III get weaker military in AoE III DE but stronger economy not exactly happy about changes. This last update I really hate making my civilization military even weaker
