Nope, it would actually be more similar to a ranged Leitis. The Jurchens were known to have used short ranged but very powerful bows with a deep penetration.

Changes:

-Elephants are trained X% faster per age.

Silver cannons (Imperial age): Cannon galleons and bombard cannons have their minimum range improved to a value of 2, ignore X% of armor (pseudo pure damage), and move X% faster.

Why not just remove the minimum range completely?

I’m not sure about how the blast mechanics work but I think they would hurt themselves from the blast damage.

They dont have blast damage like a mangonel.

Basically crossbows?

BBC does. A 0.5 tiles radius. CG and ECG don’t.

Not really, it’s a heavily armored cavalry archer which shoots out arrows that ignore enemy pierce armor.

Another unit ignoring armor? A bit unoriginal.

And the weakness of such a unit is?

Range, only 3 base range compared to 4 on regular cavalry archers

Okay so rhey still have 6 range fully upgraded and ignore pierce armor so not even skirms are good against them.

They can kite pikes and other melee units too.

Well, there’re many ways to balance this, either make their base attack lower, make them rather expensive to train, or make their speed slower than other cavalry archers (1.3 instead of 1.4)

Updates

Civ role: Pusher and anti-siege.
Civ concept: Elephants and gunpowder.

-Farmers generate X wood per second while in gathering animation.
-Meele units gain +1 attack for every researched meele attack upgrade from the blacksmith.
-Hand Cannoneers deal +X% attack bonus.
-Elephant upgrades are X% cheaper.

Note: The civ lacks blast furnace.

Unique units

  • Chang Samkhan: White elephant unit with generic elephant stats. But everytime they deal damage, they can heal nearby units (indirect lifesteal).
    Mechanic: Reverse trample damage. Instead of damaging adjacent enemy units, it heals friendly units for what the trample damage would have been. Trample area and heal % can be adjusted accordingly.

  • Krabi-Krabong warrior: Fast light infantry that only costs food and has small attack bonus vs siege workshop units. Available at the barracks since the Castle age.

Unique techs

  • Ngao (Castle age): Elephants attack X% faster.
  • Silver cannons (Imperial age): Cannon galleons and bombard cannons shoot 2 projectiles.

Team bonus
Krabi-krabong warriors are available at the barracks since the Castle age.


Possible unique unit that might replace the white elephant.

Cannon elephant: Elephant that carries a cannon on its back. It has high meele armor, deals blast damage and has bonus damage vs buildings.
