If you read the entire page, there seems to be perhaps 5 unique units in each civ and maybe 1 unique building for the Malians only? I really want to see the tech tree before passing judgment. Too close to tell if these civs are immersive enough.

I was just looking back. These choices are two of the eight I was lobbying for a year ago.
I cannot find my old pre-2021 notes, but I am pretty certain I have been hammering about civs like these for a number of years. I really hope these freaking civs are designed well.

Not my absolute favorite civs, but the Ottomans got me pretty interested. Handcannoneers in Age 3.
Seems to be able to create units for free but slower etc. Very big on lots of army.
Interesting civ choices, hope it comes with a big update and would be sweet to know when they are released.

See the Malí houses. The best proportionate houses in game. Could be a hope that some proportions would be redesigned and fixed in the future.

I see the same plastic weapons and not improvements. But maybe it’s too early judging only by a trailer. I really Hope developers Will share more info on Xbox showcase.

Malians was unexpected. Gets my hopes hope to see the Portuguese later on.

I like that they introduce new mechanics.

Dot abilities, over 200 pop (ottomans) , unit activated skills. This i hope means that probably the existing 8 civs will have new mechanics. Like you have to activate the heal on the french knights (HA HA).

At first glance they seem a little bit stronger than the rest but imo that’s fine for the first month, despite the new “op please nerf” threads.
I believe that there will be a PUP on september with the new civs.

Next will be Khmer-Chola as the devs promised a native Indian civ. 10 more civss and the game will be worth to buy.

Chola and Japanese would be the easy layups. Persians and Aztecs/Mexica are my hopes.
