New Civilisations to diversify old Civilisations

Add Serbs so our Lord Daut has representation

I am curious how you can call the umbrella civ for South Slavs. People say that Serbo-Croatians sound bad - I think it is cool, because it includes the two largest nations of them.

Naming them Croatians would allow giving them some naval bonuses.

Exactly. There is no need to count on two South Slavic civs, but at least one umbrella could appear in this game.

Serbia was a powerful state and protected Europe from the expansion of the Ottomans. The Croatian Republic of Dubrovnik was a trading power, competing with Venice for market dominance. She also had a large fleet.

I would suggest two unique units for Serbo-Croatian civ:
Dubrovnik Ship - trade ship with cannons
Hajduk - irregular infantry with sabre and bow

Hajduks are not medieval, and not only Serbian, they were common in Eastern Europe, There is a county in Hungary, named after Hungarian hajduks. Serbo-Croats sound like Turkic-Kurds or Isreali-Palestines, the biggest haters of each other, it would generate opposites. Croatians are just a minor civ, conquered by Hungarians and weren’t even independent for 200 years.

This argument is stupid.
We already have Spanish, and we all know that they don’t like Catalans and Basques.

And did I write that they are only Serbians?
What’s the problem for them to just speak Serbian?

Croatia entered a personal union with Hungary in 1102. They were not conquered by them.

Croatians and Serbians hate each other even more, have you ever heard of Yugoslav Wars? Thousands of people were killed in that, because they hate each other, much more than Spanish, which is 0% based on Catalans.

Same with “Swiss Pikeman” or “Winged Hussar” it is not a unique unit, which belongs to a civilization.

I found a Hungarian article, but I can translate: After the death of Zavonir, who didnt have a son, there was a civil war, then Saint Ladislaus conquered Croatia, who were forced to join personal unio then.

Kingdom of Croatia would work fine, they were relatively big independent for 200 years before they fell under a personal union with Hungary but even than preserved some independence.

Serbia is different but I think less interesting.
Croatia could be a different kind of naval civilisation. There aren’t that many naval civilisations in the game.

I don’t think those units would technically work in AoE2 and also don’t fit in historically.

If you have Croatians, than you can easily include the Wallachians.

Do I hear “Lords of the East” DLC?

Wallachia, Poland, Croatia and Bohemia?

I’m in 100%! I think it would be a great addition.

Actually, mango dealing melee damage and scorps dealing ranged damage is something unintuitive. I don’t see a problem for some scorps to be able to counter rams as strong as some unique unit cavalry archer does.

Yugoslav Wars in AoE 2?

*Romanians, Wends, Serbo-Croatians and Georgians

They hated each other since forever.

But to be able to appear in the game, they have to connect - separately they have no chance to join AoE 2.

and they don’t need to join Aoe2.

Why not?
These were important nations. They would fill the Balkan gap - the Western Balkans as one civ.

Umbrella slavs are more than enough, everybody is unhappy.

You mean that one umbrella civ is enough for all Slavs?
