NEW DLC confirmed for 2025

to add on, what are the odds any of current studios working on AOE have someone with the technical background required to pull entire RTS backend inside unreal engine, with all the issues that engine has as is (being dangerously single threaded as just one of those), i have sincere doubts about it, and i highly doubt there’s any interest at epic games to support RTS devs, the tech just has polar opposite requirements with RTS vs what unreal was built for, the FPS, you might as well make next AOE in source 2 or id tech by that point, thats how much of a tech barrier there is to cross

as final nail, just look at stormgate’s performance, thats what worries me, its the worst performing RTS in my library atm in terms of framerate

Looks like Homeworld 3 uses UE4. There is hope

Surely, some other RTS gaming engine has come out between 2002 and 2024 that could be licensed/used?

I’d like to see in the new DLC:

  • 4 new civs and 4 variantes, 8 in total
  • More fauna and biome
  • New graphic pack (*)
  • More campaigns (**)

(*) It’s not something I care so much, but there are a lot of people asking for this improvement.

(**) I don’t play this mode, but I know it could attract more players

This is a pony; a horse is slightly taller so the size is not that far fetched. The train is slightly smaller, as are all buildings, but nowhere near disproportionated as other aoe titles.

I would prefer 5 civs and 0 variants.

Obviously, I was also catching up xd…

Well UE5 is better than nothing…you have the Cry Engine too, but I haven’t seen RTS on CryEngine, since it’s an engine for shooters…besides obviously Bang! from AoMR and 3 DE and Essence from AoE 4…

You have the SAGE from the latest CnCs and some more out there like the Total War engine…

Yeah, that should be basic… The Conquerors and The Asian Dynasties brought all that, so I don’t see why AoE 4 couldn’t bring it… The Conquerors (New World maps with fauna and flora, 5 civs, and 4 campaigns) and The Asian Dynasties (Asian maps with Asian fauna and flora, 3 major and 6 minor civs, and 3 campaigns):

The Conquerors features five new civilizations, four new campaigns, 11 new units, 26 new technologies, new gameplay modes, new maps, and a few minor changes to the gameplay mechanics.

The Asian Dynasties introduces three new civilizations; the Chinese, Indians, and the Japanese, as well as several minor characters, campaigns, maps, and game modes.

total war engine could work, isn’t free of issues but its smt, SAGE tho, ok but only if the 30 fps lock is dealt with

I am very excited to see what they’re cooking. For all the criticisms of AoE4, it is still by far the best product on the market in its genre, and seeing continuous improvements is wonderful.

Fingers crossed we’ll be getting a teaser soon.

Hopefully we’ll have more news about the DLC soon. Age 4 is such a great game, so much fun to play with friends, that we hope this game continues to grow.

I think we’ll hear something during the upcoming Developers Direct in january.

But i suppose this Is the last single player content developed by RELIC.

I’m super excited for the upcoming DLC for AoE4. I love this game; to me, it’s the best in the franchise. It still has a lot of potential to be even better, so here’s hoping they will take this game to another level with the new DLC.

I’d personally want to see, in no particular order (apart from new civilizations and campaigns):

  1. Weather effects such as rain and snow to make it more refreshing when playing. (This can be turned off for ranked play for those who want to focus clearly on the map.)
  2. New animals around the map depending on the selected biome. New biomes would also be nice.
  3. The ability to choose a random biome when creating a custom lobby.
  4. New features, such as an auto-scout like in AoM: Retold, in custom games and quick matches to assist new players.
  5. Animations added to animals inside buildings to make these buildings more alive.
  6. A naval gameplay overhaul and water maps to make them more fun to play.

Just a few examples I can think of right now, but of course, there is much more.

According to BeastyQ, he said a while ago that he heard some details about the new DLC. He said that if true, it is going to be bigger and better than the previous DLC, and he suspects that it will sell better, too.

Here’s hoping that’s true!

All of these improvements would be very appreciated but i really Hope to see also improved textures on 4k resolution for all models. I don’t wanna a change of the art style but only to see 4k resolution. As you know, from past messagges and threads, It has always been the big problem for me due the lack of immersion. Give me 4k textures and new zoom option to see Battle more close and i will happy to buy next DLC.

All I want is a berber/amazigh civ, something like this awesome concept made by @coatol5:

Chilly’s AOEIV Civilization Concept - The Amazigh

I would love more animals

It’s not directly related to AOE4 but World’s Edge just cancelled next DLC for Age of empires 3. There are problems inside World’s Edge.

They are a problem for AoE brand!

It seems they have not not enough developers. So , why don’t try to buy Relic Entertainment?
