New elephant unit ideas?

I don’t see any cobra car elephant. I’m disappointed.

Again, this is not about bombard cannons. I’m not disputing that other, relatively small types of gun were mounted on and/or fired fired from elephants – I’m disputing your claim that bombard cannons were mounted on elephants.

truuue

You meant Camel Monk? Obviously, there’s no such thing as Camel Elephants as two animals can’t ride on top of each other.

How is a camel mounting a monk any better than a camel mounting an elephant?

In game we only have the bombard to represent all types of canons, thats why I wrote it like that.besides a canon elephant will obviously have the bombard projectile.

Fair enough. I don’t really agree though. I think bombard cannons only represent the type of cannons used to breach a wall in a siege, while smaller anti-personel cannons are represented by hand cannoneers. The cannons mentioned in the Reddit post you linked were smaller anti-personel weapons, so in my mind more like hand cannons. (Although they were also from the mid-19th century, so not very similar to either and not really relevant to AoE2; not that there aren’t anachronistic units already.)

I would like to have this as a UU for a new civilisation like the Siamese.

The Persian War Elephant also needs a mahout .

That could lead to a third elephant

What about four elephants on a turtle’s shell, carrying a discworld on their back?

Probably all would be crushed, so that means a bonus resistance against conversion.

Unless they are some kind of religious cosmology explanation of the space. That would mean an straight +8 bonus against Eagles.

Well, evolution wise, elephants are slow. As for being killed by pretty much anything, yes. Maybe with introduction of the Cholas we can buff the elephant defenses? Maybe adding extra range? As for cost, I usually convert my elephants, so that’s not a problem (for me at least).

I don’t think China will allow Siam to have it’s own civ. It was a ###### of China until the 19th century.

Now with that I must agree. :kissing_heart:

And the turtle is floating in the air.

Actually elephants can run faster than humans. I understand why they’re not fast in the game but as it stands now the speed makes them a liability rather than an asset.

And? They’re independent now, as Thailand.

If you anger them - yes. They aren’t as slow as sloths or turtles though.

Accounting? Just kidding.

Yes, but historical Siam was a part of China. Of course we can introduce Siam and Jurchens as a split of China?..

Just as much as Vietnam and Korea.

Also, you said “until the 19th century”. That says nothing of when it came under Chinese control.

Read GlobalSecurity.org about Thailand. To be specific: “Thailand - A Chinese Tributary State”. It states “subordinate” to China, which literally can be translated as being under Chinese control.

Again, since when? When did they become a tributary?

Also, that site looks like a place conspiracy theorists would hang out at, not to mention it’s hard to navigate and apparently full of paywalls.
