Looks like a gimmick for me. Maybe just to make the Expansion pass look worth it.
Did they make this a DLC so they can give it it’s own age rating and potentially not sell it in certain markets? But does that mean that the Expansion pass wont be available in those markets?
I’m really curious about this one. I wonder if we will get some new lore about Atlantians in this too, the Aztecs do border the Atlantic (through the Gulf of Mexico) after all. But since they also border the Pacific we could potentially see every civ appear in the campaign.
Would be a good chance to not just fight other Aztecs in every scenario. The Chinese and Japanese campaigns were way to many mirror matches.

They even mention that it will “span continents” so I’m pretty optimistic that we won’t just see mirror matches again.
The “celestial realms” one is less surprising since we went to “hell” in like every campaign so far.

I hope not. AoM Atlantis lore is bad enough as it is and I don’t understand why people want everything to be about them.
AoM Atlantis lore is a huge continuity and consistency issue, and Retold would have been the opportunity to fix it. They decided against it.
I want the lore fixed. Once it’s fixed, they can expand it. But until it’s fixed, expanding it just means there’s more to fix. And if they just don’t want to fix it, then nothing good comes out of expanding it.
Realmente me alegra mucho saber que aztecas vendrán a AoM R. Si no llegarán más panteones ya no me dolería, con esto completamos muy bien. Hacía falta esta cultura con todo su misticismo y maneras sangrientas que le dan tanto sabor. Las guerras floridas son una gran temática para este juego.
Espero exploren el mito de Aztlan como tierra de origen mítico y su búsqueda por Tenochtitlán (donde encontrarán un águila devorando una serpiente sobre un nopal).
