I am so glad we are getting an official Aztec pantheon after two decades. Huge news for AOM. Demeter God Pack was one of the most requested 4th major gods too. Extremely excting year is ahead.

Would have preferred Maya or Olmec as a base, but happy to know new stuff is coming.

Demeter is a choice, I wonder what the minor gods are going to be. (assuming three new ones like Freyr)

The other 2 dlc packs are premium ‘eyecandy’ filler. I am unamused.

I do hope we don’t have to wait for 5 more expansion packs to get every pantheon their fourth major god

Legends have expanded, heroes have risen and fallen, and you’ve taken on new challenges in 2025 in Age of Mythology: Retold. We’ve loved seeing your passion for the game and your creativity in mod creation, photo mode and more.

With the launch of Heavenly Spear in September, we reached the end of the promised offering outlined for our Premium Edition. We knew this left many of you wondering what would be next for the game and we’re excited to reveal what you’ll be able to get your hands on in 2026.

You’ll be able to own four new mythic releases, with the Expansion Pass content, culminating in the release of the game’s most ambitious expansion, featuring the massively requested Aztec pantheon!

Buy the Expansion Pass and enjoy the next four releases automatically on their respective release dates - no separate purchases, no waiting. As an Expansion Pass holder, you’ll receive exclusive rewards, premium value, and mythic variety across four epic additions.

Pre-order will start on December 18th with a 15% discount running until the first item releases.

Included Mythic Releases:

1. New Gods Pack: Demeter – Become a Force of Nature
Command the power of the harvest goddess herself. Unleash new god powers and myth units that reshape the battlefield and bend the will of nature to your strategy.

2. Ultimate Fan Pack – A Golden Mark of Support

4. Obsidian Mirror – Rise of the Aztec Gods
The centerpiece of the Expansion Pass. One of the most requested pantheons in franchise history finally ascends.
Enter the world of the Aztec gods in a sweeping 12-mission campaign that spans continents and celestial realms. Wield divine monsters, call upon gods like Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl, and lead your civilization through an era of obsidian fire and sacrifice. This is more than an add-on - it’s a full-scale expansion introducing an entirely new culture, pantheon, and divine playstyle.

FINALLY AZTECS!

Hopefully Celts next! :folded_hands:

If we get Persephone, I hope she’s added to Hades too, even if by replacing one of the OGs.

As is to be expected, the new Mesoamerican pantheon will come out overpowered. Since they lack cavalry, they’ll likely compensate with archers that are too powerful. I assume it will be a pantheon similar to the Chinese , but focused on very powerful long range units. Therefore, I hope they finally give the Norse a long-range unit to counter these new archers; otherwise, the game will become too unbalanced and unplayable.

Have faster Infantry that take on the role of Cavalry units like it is done in AoE III with a different unit tag.

I’m very happy that the next expansion is going to be Aztecs! I assume it will be one drop per quarter with balance changes thrown in between them. If so it will be a long wait but I’m very much looking forward to seeing what kind of cool stuff they come up with. Hopefully we can see some more teasers of what they are working on.

I have an honest question for you. Do you even enjoy playing this game? It seems every time I see one of your posts you are complaining and dooming about the game. Who am I to tell you what to do with your free time but surely you have something that you enjoy more?

I want Demeter.

I’d prefer Babylonians over Aztec but I’m happy and take them nonetheless.

I don’t care particularily about what this cosmetic thing is, but I’ll take it.

I WILL buy the expansion pass.

BUT! I most recommend taking the Blood and Bones out of the Expansion Pass. People have been requesting this feature since the beginning of Retold if it’s what I suspect it is, which would be a feature from the original game. Locking Blood and Corpses behind a paywall almost did the Total War franchise in. If it’s anything like the Original feature then it MUST be released for free. I will be getting the pass either way but locking a feature like that behind a specific paywall like this is unaccepteble. If the original corpse mechanics are added for free and this becomes a little extra, then it’s maybe acceptable but please don’t do this to yourselves AoM team :frowning:

That’s what I am picturing as well. Get some coyote runners or whatever the equivalent they come up with.

And now we’re going to start speculating.
Is Demeter going to have Persephone? Or Pan? Both? What will be her unique military unit?
What will Aztec favor gathering look like? How will they compensate not having cavalry? What will their siege units and ships look like?
I’m excited for the ensuing discussions over pixels seen in the coming two second teasers we’re probably gonna get four of in total…

I agree with every word you said.
Except my personal pick would have been Celts. But be them Aztecs, Babylonians, or Aztecs, I’m looking forward to playing as them.
And that we’re getting Aztecs now doesn’t mean we can’t get Babylonians and Celts later.

Have those Coyote Runners in AoMR would be so fun.

I’m looking forward to the first look at their buildings. I love the look of Aztecs structures. I think their aesthetics will look so good in Retold.

While I can’t rule it out, I doubt they’re going to re-use assets from AoEIII.
But the concepts may very well apply.

I’m actually happy they’re bringing the aztecs, it was long overdue. They should have led with china+aztecs rather than 2 Asian civs but anyways.

I expect a lot of the aoe3 aztecs mechanics will find their way in their design.

Technically there was a species of horses native to North America which died out. I suppose they could bring it up to give aztecs cav units.

I will say a bit of a call to action, this Aztecs DLC, likely even more than the E. Asian civs, and its sales performance will likely determine if we get more civs/cultures/pantheons after this, so if we want more, make sure we support this one! That being said, even outside of just supporting future releases, this sounds pretty hype!
