Hi, I’ve seen a couple threads now asking about any upcoming Christmas content, so I wanted to make a separate thread for those who don’t follow the mod and let you all know that we’ve just released a brand new Christmas Map called Silent Night! The map hopefully serves as a worthy successor to Winter Wonderland and comes with a new expanded native settlement, the Christmas Village.
The Christmas Village works like a typical native settlement, but like other native settlements in Age of Pirates it’s expanded to include more units, more techs, and a politician age-up system allowing you to choose from three different specialties.
Hopefully the devs give us a holiday event within the next couple days, but until then I hope you can have some fun with the new map!

Love this man. Gotta make a Christmas themed video on it or something.

I might if I made videos! Best you’ll get from me is a screenshot, unfortunately.
That’s even better! Let me know when so I can check it out!

I think it’s time for some more previews!
Age of Pirates greatly expands on the native settlements in the base game. Whereas a typical native settlement in the base game contains one unit and several upgrades, native settlements in Age of Pirates include several units, additional techs, and a politician system that allows you to pick a specialty to upgrade your native settlement.
In the case of Silent Night, there are three specialties to choose from:
The Master Toymaker specializes in wood crafts, the Chief Confectioner produces an assortment of candy and sweets, and the Lead Artisan provides a variety of valuable goods and decorations. Choosing between them not only allows you to train their special unit, but it also allows you access to their own special workshop. Explore each option to see which one best fits your playstyle!
Another day another preview! This time I want to showcase a special new explorer unit:
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
That’s right! Rudolph is a playable unit in Silent Night. Accessed via a tech at the Christmas Village, Rudolph has a special bonus that makes him a valuable asset to any army:
So what’s the big deal, what does Rudolph do? Rudolph’s nose lights the way, providing a speed aura to all nearby units! In fact, he provides the same speed boost as the Lakota Warchief while also being fast enough to keep up with your cavalry. The only downside is he doesn’t have any attack, though he makes up for it with his powerful bonus.

Thank you!
Also, shall we preview something else? This time let’s look at the Christmas Village itself!
The village has a few different variants, and spawns in a variety of locations depending on the map size and layout. In evenly matched team games, either one or two villages will spawn on each side of the map depending on how many players there are. FFA games spawn one village per player to keep things more balanced.

For anyone looking for additional festive maps, I uploaded an add-on mod so you can also play two more winter maps with the Christmas Natives:
Winter Wonderland: Same as the original winter wonderland, but with the Christmas Village and most other AoP changes
Rockies: Festive themed Rockies with the Christmas Village and most other AoP changes
