as long as it wasn’t the case that content the content is visible but inaccessible. Like I think V&V shows up in the corner for everyone but is locked if you don’t have v&v. I think there’d be backlash if dlc 5 did something like that.
I literally just suggested splitting the dlc in half, but if it LOOKS like it was split in half (especially at the last minute) then it looks extra greedy.
IDK, maybe there are objectors no matter what ms does so ms shouldn’t over think it.
AoE 2 DE Anniversary could receive such a Chinese DLC. I find it hard to believe that they would add such DLC, as many as 4 new civs. I think it would be on a smaller scale - Tibetans & Jurchens civs + Campaigns for Far Eastern civs.
DLC to celebrate the 25th anniversary of AoE 2 could be the DLC we see on SteamDB. This could be a completely different type of DLC. I think this could be Forgotten 2.0. DLC. People talk about America and Africa being poorly represented. Such a DLC for the quarter-century of AoE 2 could perfectly solve this problem.
If there were to be two anniversary DLCs this year, that’s how I imagine them. Chinese DLC for “minor” DE Anniversary and huge DLC for 25th Anniversary of AoE 2.
If you dig a bit in the past announcements you can see some hints about the next DLC and being developed together with the V&V.
I copy and paste some interesting lines from the patch of the V&V release.
this doesn’t at all mean that the DLC you love is going away, but it definitely means we’re trying new things in an effort to make you even more happy.
As much as it feels like we’ve already done so much in the 4+ years since launch in November, 2019 – heck, we even went through a global pandemic together and had this game to give us some good vibes during difficult times – there’s also this way in which it feels like you’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg still, because the releases we already have planned into 2025 kind of blow our minds.
And yes, it’s only March of 2024 and we definitely just said 2025…
Not necessarily. They said “into 2025” not “in 2025”. There’s definitely at least one planned release scheduled for 2025 (at least at the time v&v was released), but not necessarily ALL of the releases are planned for 2025
No. It’s quite clear they meant they have plans for DLCs up to somewhere in 2025. You don’t go “We have no plans for more content this year!” with a happy winking face.
Also don’t forget, this DLC has been in development longer than any other. It’s already had a lot of time devoted to it, or has had development time despite AoM. They knew AoM would require a lot of work, and would have planned around it, it’s not an unexpected wrench.
