New surprise DLC on 25th anniversary?

Cysion was at the RBW:ER event on the first day. Hopefully he was there for the announcement.

Look at his top topic.
Possibly a coincidence, although I don’t think so. But at least in this topic that feeds on overactive pattern recognition, that seems worth pointing out, even if his name is “Honest John”

I think it’s just a coincidence. He doesn’t behave like Gargy at all, and he’s been here since July, meaning he’d have ample time to screw up and get caught by the devs.

If they drop the trailer today at the red bull final, would it be before, after or in between the games?

Man’s got his priorities straight.

Kinda makes sense. In AoE 3 for example, you have the option to pre-load all assets needed for a game into the RAM and iirc in most 1v1s, the game consumes 2-3 GB with this option enabled.
Could be probably worse in AoE 2 as Cysion explained. Units have 16 directions with 30 frames per animation which means you need a lot of RAM if every unit had its own sprite.

Few days ago you were asking around whether develepors are in the forums. Did you stumble upon one? Or you became a developer yourself?

Not to poo-poo Mr Goodman, but we do know the info will be shown very soon thanks to the pup_nov depot. It’s not a difficult guess.

I never thought they would announce the dlc in the middle of the tournament but i’m expecting to see sth. today.

Promoting it right after the final or after a showmatch(if there is one) would be the perfect time…and i hope they will release it on the anniversary of DE.

Agree. I’m seeing people commenting on videos who haven’t played AoE2 in ages. It would be a fantastic way to boost the game to show off a new expansion right as the curtain comes down on the tournament. There’s a crowd right there…use it!

I would think right after the final, to not be too intrusive to the vibe of the event itself, but who knows, I could see arguments for the alternative as well.

Well it started did they bother to give us the details

Extremely unlikely to do it at the start. That’s just a good way to pull peoples attention in two directions. Best to wait for it to be over first.

So is it over yet? Otherwise this is yet another pvp match to watch.

No. It’s finished when there’s a winner. No clue when that will be, especially with some tech issues in the 8th century castle in the middle of the Spanish countryside.

Hera is 2:0 ahead of Viper. Praying for Viper to make a comeback.
