New DLC was released couple of days from now with promise of new civs will be available in multiplayer. But making lobbies switched between “Normal” and “Chronicles” made new civs litterally unavailable in unranked multiplayer. There are no so called “Chronicles” lobbies. I dunno who designed this, but this is sort of fraud.
Not sure what you mean. I can select them.
You have the select the civilisation set in the sidebar for the lobby. The civilisation set in the civilisation selection is just a filter option.
It is a little confusing.
If you are in the AoE2 tab you host AoE2 only lobbies by default and the Chronicles civs are at the bottom.
If you are in the Chronicles tab you host all civilisations by default and the Chronicles civs are on top of the list.
Thats the issue. I can host any option, but i cant play new civs in any unranked lobby i join, like bohemians or armenians. New civs are just not available in civilisation selection.
Oh you mean the ones that you just unlocked because the first 3 DLC become free?
If that is the case then you should report it as a bug.
You are sure the DLC already correctly unlocked for you in single player? There are a few people having issues with that.
Yes, im sure. DLC added to my account and unlocked for a single campaign. By the way i’ve played one multiplayer game with spartans yesterday. But that was possible cause host was playing another civ from the last dlc.
The host of the lobby has to enable all civilisations in the lobby setting on the right. This is true for both multiplayer and single player.
The drop down menu on top of the civilisation selection is just a filter option that is greyed out if the lobby doesn’t enable all civilisations.
Basically this. In case of your screenshot, the host decided to create the game only with AoE 2 civs.
The UI is honestly bad.
It took me a while to find the civilisation set setting in the sidebar on the right. Many people that host lobbies have likely not noticed it yet.
It doesn’t help that “Antiquity Mode” is a separate lobby setting and it also doesn’t help that there are different default settings when you are in the Chronicles tab despite the lobby UI looking completely identical.
All of this brings us to our present concern. Three new civs available in unranked, but not available in unranked.
Single campaign isn’t worth as full featured civs bundle. Imho of course.
And to find a proper lobby i need now to check ALL available lobbies on by one. Cause there is not a single clue where new civs are enabled.
I noticed that too. The lobby browser is really bad, they really need to add some better filters.
Chronicles On/Off is a very important thing for peoples to filter by.
BTW only one host of ten is able to understand request to change Civilization Set. Worst gamedesign decision ive ever seen. People just dont know what is civilization set and how it locks new civs out. Its a torture to play in unranked like this. I’ll take a break from the game until something changes.
@Felizon89 @IvanHCastro I know this isn’t the bug section but could this be taken away? from what was described above it looks very unintuitive on the current UI design. since it’s unranked, it should just show the new 3 civs in civ pick menu, and let the host decides the rules of the lobby.
