Hussite wagons. People still do red phosporu rushes, and not every civilization gets redemption monks. I mean sure, there’s such a thing as mangonels, but sometimes even that doesn’t counter them. What I propose is that they are changed to be more historically accurate. They deal more damage, but have to pack and unpack like a trebuchet, essentially making them like a mobile tower. It makes them less lethal against town centers, and makes it easier for them to be shot by mangonels.
Their winrate is a mess. High winrate on closed maps, and low winrate on open maps. I know some civs should be better on other maps, but the difference is too large. 56% winrate on black forest, and 60% winrate at the highest elo.
FC HC is kind of broken. It’s like getting janissaries at the archery range instead of a castle. I don’t think chemistry and HC should be removed from castle age for them, but hand cannon damage in castle age should be tuned down a bit.
I used to love playing this civ, but now, its about as messy as Sicilians.
Make Bohemians and Sicilians great again! 11
Bohemians suffer right a Balance crysis as they have two oppresive times:
Early Castle Age pushes with the Wagons and Monks with Redemption, on arena such strat is hard to counter.
Post-Imperial armies of Halbs+Hand Cannons and Houfnices, that simply cancel so many civs to the point is an alt-f4 situation.
That can be solved in two ways:
Make Non Elite Hussite Wagons wayy weaker, reduce their attack or HP.
Remove Siege Engineers, buff Elite Hussite Wagon range from 6 to 7 to compensate, add the bonus damage vs buildings to Houfnice, so other civs with Bombard Cannons and Siege Engineers have a chance to shot Houfnices.
I mean allowing other civs to deal with hussite wagons push better. Guard towers can fend off mangonel push. I think it is reasonable to let guard towers fend off hussite wagons
I would contend that Mangonels rip through Wagons like candy canes. You simply have to be willing to wager a repair villager or two in support. This sounds difficult as you need to always be engrossed into your macro while the Bohemian economy is fired up, but you will get the hang of it. They are also torn asunder by cavalry, which is one reason why they have such a strong Spear line.
This post has me more wondering if Guard Towers can be turned into something deeper, even on Arena, than they as of yet are. They already can be decisive and annoying when used properly.
Admittedly, the first Brick Gothic picture is in Germany, but my point is, Czech architecture resembles the Central European set a lot more than the Eastern European set, even if similar styles to both were present all over the HRE.
The first two eastern european images you posted dont look that distinct just to be clear I 100% support the central European architecture for Bohemians, but your example isnt great imo. Tbh the whole architecture in Eastern Europe is more like an spectrum of German, Byzantine and Slavic influence
Their HP is already 2nd lowest compared to Elite version. 1st is War Elephant.
Not the real problem of Hussite Wagon. Personally I like Houfnice having 13 range. They are a mix of all civ bonus but not full bonus. Having 1 less range than generic will ruin that.
I think non-elite HW can lose 2 or at least 1 projectile. 4 damage is no joke against low PA units like Monks which is one of their biggest counter.
As a resident of Poland, I would say that the Eastern European Architecture Set is not very suitable for Poles civ, but at the moment there is nothing better.
The base of the Eastern European Architecture Set would be most suitable for the Carpathians - Magyars and Romanians. The monastery and imperial buildings are definitely Ruthenian.
It goes both ways. If hussite wagons get close enough, they can obliterate mangos. Hussite wagons also move faster than mangonels, potentially lowering the chance of destroying wagons.
