So Chinese New Year is in a few days and the devs aren’t advertising even a little bit? I’m not a marketing genius but you guys really messed up. On top of that complete radio silence except the last patch probably so we wouldn’t forget this game existed, and a late expansion that was owed to us last year.
According to the latest patch notes, they are “finalizing” the details for Immortal Pillars.
I expect a new trailer on Chinese New Year and then a lot of social media posts and so on after that.
Maybe creators already got access to the DLC already but are still under NDA until Chinese New Year. Or they will get access shortly after.
We will see. Personally, I don’t expect them to acknoledge Chinese New Year anymore. The next piece of anything we’ll hear from them will probably be around mid February.
The Release date will likely be announced a month before it happens.
That’s hopefully a relief, considering the news that just came in about the AoE3 DLC.
Many people already payed for 2 DLC so they can’t just cancel them nor delay them too long without getting into serious trouble.
I wonder if this why the aoe3 dlc got cancelled. Because they are committed to 2 major dlc for aom due to preorder but didn’t have the bandwidth to deliver them on top of aoe3 dlc in a reasonable time span.
Just a theory
They can instead refund all the money
@Bisonours of course this is the reason ! It’s crazy to think a single dev team could handle two differents games in the same time.
They had to make a choice, based on what would probably be most profitable for them, and they chose to abandon aoe3, which was already free-to-play and therefore a game on the decline.
They can but that costs money. And why would they literally want to throw away money.
Even if they expect very little sales for the 2nd DLC, it would still be better to get negative money from having to refund people.
The new norse god is one of the 2 dlcs. The other one is china. So no, this is not the problem.
Please read Bisonours post cause he is right.
I can remember some 1 posting some stuff about the unknown pantheon being one from hindu/india. Am I wrong?
Like he should a tweet from AoE franchise’s page with the statue of a hindu god.
The results are out. The Devs had nothing prepared.
(the only thing they brought was the obituary of 3DE)
To be honest, I don’t know what will happen with the second DLC, but I hope that at least the Chinese DLC will be released without incident.
Welp. Here is your news:
Not really on Twitter so thanks for the share!
Well at least something
Starting with her makes sense. She is was the most confirmed, one of the most well known deities and “year of the snake” with her snake like lower body makes aesthetically sense too. (also nice art!)
Just personally hoped for a bit more. (like the reveal of all major gods or her and her traits/buffs and GP for example) but it’s something and when they tell more soon I hope this will change the most pessimistic minds her a bit more optimistic
I expect more drip feeding in the coming days.
But good to see that they are actually talking about the DLC now.
I mean, yeah, but you’d think that Chinese New Year would be a good time to announce a date, even if its a month and a half out and then they periodically drop more spoilers as it gets closer to the release date, but given how quiet they are in media across all the Age of Empires games, I get the impression they have one single PR guy for all 5 games lol.
I expected more too.
I feel like there is less then one guy working on PR. Feels like that is just something is doing at the side.
