Garrisoning the Town Centre (TC) with villagers allows the TC to shoot arrows at a target. Enemies will be auto-targeted. Gaia or Neutral targets can not be untargeted once manually targeted. Furthermore, removing villagers from the TC (to stop the TC from firing) does not remove the TC’s targeted status. (It is still trying to shoot)… this can be observed when a villager is re-garrisoned into the TC, and it will immediately begin shooting again on its previous target (Even for neutral or gaia objects.)
i.e. The towncentre is remembering its target, even after ungarrisoning of villagers, there is no way to cancel this targeting (you can only try define a new target to cancel current one)
- 100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS)
Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:
- Garrison villager in TC
- Right click TC to attack nearby target
- Ungarrison Villagers, attack stops, (TC is still ‘targeting’ however)
- Garrison vill again, attack resumes.
Whilst this may be the expected result for those who are targeting true enemies, it is not the preferred behaviour when targeting gaia. E.g. when luring a boar and utilising the TC to do damage, after ungarrisoning all villagers to deliver the final blow, the luring villager is often placed into the TC for protection… the TC remembers the boar (as its assigned target from earlier) and shoots an arrow - (without reassigning the TC to a different target out of range) - there is no way to prevent this behaviour (no ‘stop’ command)
This can result in the boar being killed by the TC and loss of food due to a poorly timed single arrow from the TC which should not be firing at all.
TC’s should “loose” there target when the ungarrisoned button is used. (This maintains the functionality of telling a TC to target something specific, then garrisoning vills, to hit that specific object, also this wont effect the auto-targeting of enemies)
i.e. TC target should only be reset when ungarrisoning all villagers. (Step 3 in above reproduction steps)
