I notice that they “improve” Crossbow’s reloading animation, however I gotta remind Devs that Non-Eurpean Crossbow never use Windlass, so you shouldn’t give them same reloading animation.
This “improvement” will be Suck for Non-Eurpean civs.
Build different reloading animation please.
Or cancel this “improvement” because that old one was still fine for it is adaptable to every civ, I believe the old animation is still fine and I’m already get use to it.
I just saw that animation in video because I can’t play DLC in advance like Beasty, I hope to discover that I was wrong after entering the game on April 8th.
It helps recognize the unit much easier and distinguish it from the Zhuge Nu. What you’re asking would make it much worse, because the same unit would have 2 different animations. Game design has to make concessions sometimes.
China has the credit for being the first people to develop and use crossbows (edit: handheld and mass military use, ballistae and other heavy mounted crossbow existed in both areas going back to 700 BCE), starting in 400 BCE. There’s credible evidence that implies that European cultures developed it after exposure to China, as Europe didn’t use them until the 10th century.
China also has the first recorded use of a winch mechanism to reload a crossbow weapon system, approx 200 BCE.
Europeans didn’t utilize that technology until the 13th century, 1,400 years later!

However, “bedded crossbows” was very similar to springald, it was kind of siege weapon. You can’t carry a bed to go battle right lol?
Civ like China had never combine Individual Crossbow with Windlass, so that new animation can not be suitable, as well as to many other Non-European Crossbows.
