So you’re saying “Bombard
Cannons” are good against Battering Rams, but "Bombard
Towers" aren’t?
This is even more “non-intuitive” and further solidifies my point
If Bombard Cannons are effective, one would, logically, assume Bombard Towers would be similarly effective – or at least not completely useless.
Trust me, I’m okay with Battering Rams having received some buffs. I never used them before because they were not fun to use, were weak, slow, easy targets, etc. The pendulum just swung way too far to OP, imo. Can there be some compromise tweak? Increase their vulnerability to all towers and castles a bit, especially bombard towers, and make them 50% less strong so they aren’t a wrecking ball through your town.
And is there also some medieval tech that helped kings counter battering rams more? Yeah, it seems so. Try Googling, "What did kings used to fend of battering rams in medieval times?"
for some ideas. Introducing some more techs to combat them could be cool, too
I didn’t know about modded AIs. I will look into. I thought we were stuck with the ones the game gave us.
I used to mix and match AIs, maybe have one AI be the new DE AI, another be the HD AI, and another be the CD-ROM AI… but I, eventually, just got more attracted to the fact that the “DE” AI doesn’t really cheat, seems to have a little more personality (even though it’s one-dimensional and the same almost every time, like the others) where it spreads out and has some survival skills, and if you hit their econ early it has more noticeable ripple effects. I appreciate that
I already do the retro modded sounds/music that someone else (a DE dev, I think) made.
Too bad it’s impossible to completely mod out the annoying battle alarm/horn sound to a more subtle and quick one of your choosing. I already tried. The game locks you out of full control of those sounds. When I play, I hear my sound like 50% of the time, and the annoying default one the other 50%, maybe even more.
- And the chat’s annoying doorbell sound is hidden away somewhere under lock and key, as well. Just what I want to hear when I do a taunt every time is:
- “
*ding-dong*
I’ll beat you back to Age of Empires!” - “
*ding-dong*
Woolooolooooo!” - “
*ding-dong*
Wood please!” - “
*ding-dong*
The wonder, the wonder, the… noooo!”
- “
