Issue:
It is not possible to bind the “<” key as a hotkey in this game. The “<” key is the one that is below the A key and to the right of the “left shift” key on QWERTZ layout keyboards

AoE2DE has no issue with this and allows you to set the < while AoM retold doesn’t let you
Trigger Event:
.
Repro Steps:
- Change some hotkey and try to set it to “<”
- Notice that after setting it, it shows the hotkey as blank, and if you try to use this hotkey ingame, it will do nothing
The term for this keyboard is either an ISO keyboard (in contrast to the ANSI keyboard of most US keyboards), or a 105-key keyboard (in contrast to 104 keys on a US keyboard).
Searching those terms on these forums, it looks like aoe2 only quite recently fixed the issue.
Key 56 can be a hotkey but does not appear in hotkey list - Age of Empires II: DE / II - Report a Bug - Age of Empires Forum
Thankfully once reported it was fixed pretty quickly, so hopefully the same can be true here.
Actually, aoe2 had it working since release all these years, and then somehow they broke it in March 2024 of this year, and fixed it after 2 months. Was definitely strange.
Btw another combos i see not working is shift + mouse wheel up or shift + mouse wheel down. It seems to be so because mouse wheel up down for scrolling is hard coded? or at least seems to be so
Oh that is weird.
As for the mouse, yeah I suspect it’s hard-coded. You might be able to trick it if your mouse software lets you reprogram it so that scrolling acts like a different key.

Bump, devs please dont forget about this, hotkey customizability is always nice. Please make the < key usable.
