Old waypoint behaviour broken with the new DLC update

It’s crazy how many parallels there are. I’m also an old-school gamer and have completely put the game aside for now, focusing more on other things (family, other hobbies, work, etc.). As I’ve seen, the bug doesn’t appear under troubleshooting (https://support.ageofempires.com/hc/en-us/articles/360049490811-Age-of-Empires-II-Definitive-Edition-Known-Issues-Solutions). In the developers’ words, the list only includes the most visible or disruptive issues. Apparently, the original waypoint system isn’t among the most pressing problems.

Play this game and loyal to the game for many years, maybe this is the time that trigger me to give it up and focusing on the other things..

I’ll check back occasionally, but I won’t return if this waypoint behaviour isn’t reverted. That’s genuinely disappointing for me, as I’ve been an avid player for many years, host tournaments, and contribute heavily to the community.

This behaviour was introduced in a patch, so the change that caused it should be easily identifiable and revertible. I work alongside developers as part of my job, and regressions introduced through updates are typically addressed quickly through hotfix once the offending change is identified. This shouldn’t be any different.

From the outside it increasingly looks like the old waypoint behaviour is simply being left behind in favour of the new system. If that’s the intention, it would be better to say so clearly. For players who relied on the previous behaviour, leaving it broken like this feels less like progress and more like pushing people toward the new system, because the patch has made the old one unplayable - no one can use it like that.

The longer this goes on, the more players will simply give up. Some will move to the new behaviour, while others will move on to other games entirely. If that’s the intent, it should be clear and not buried behind other priorities. You might see this as an acceptable loss to the community so you don’t have to support it anymore, but pushing people away from something by breaking it isn’t a great way to move the game forward.

OMG its finally fixed everyone

I haven’t checked yet, but that’s great news. Thanks, devs.
