The new shamanistic monastery kinda looks out of place now with the current architecture sets. They should built on the style of that building to create a new nomadic architure
Yeah, I also thought that, but on the other hand, if they are going to create another architecture set, they would announce it, right? Unless they only plan to do it much later.
Completely, the only building that could potentially look strange is the castle, I am not sure how a nomadic castle could be done
There is a bunch of things they haven’t announced that were only hinted at in the patch notes like the civilisations from the DLC.
Castles are now unique to every civilisation so they can all get something that makes sense.
It can’t be worse then now with the Mongols having a Japanese castle and the Huns having an English one.
The Hunnic castle could be a captured Roman one for example similar to their Wonder.
It works well in AoE4 and AoE3 so why not in AoE2 too?
Not every building looks equally durable right now either.
It wouldn’t just be a tent and nothing else. It would also have some other elements like fences, a wooden tower for the archery range and so on.
The buildings still have to have the shape of AoE2 buildings after all.
The Mongol wonder is a big tent. The Frankish wonder is a “gothic” cathedral.
In WW1 the Germans tried destroying the Reims cathedral with heavy artillery. It’s still standing. I could say the same about the Cologne cathedral (not french but of a similar architecture) that survived american WW2 bombings, while the rest of the city had to be rebuilt. Somehow I doubt a big tent would withstand that.
A nomadic style would be fairly straightforward to make : make it look like tents that get increasingly ornate as you age up. Only have stone foundations for buildings that are supposed to be hard such as castles (they can look half-ruined with tents over them). Done !
To be fair I don’t know exactly what they will pick for a cuman architecture (even their wonder is a plundered ruined castle) but “not Samarkand” is a safe bet.
There indeed is the precedent of the former Indian wonder that was replaced (as the original wonder was built in the 17th century), which was kept.
That was for a wonder from a civ added with Forgotten. A castle (used more often by several civs) that dates back from CD AOK has even more nostalgic value.
