One of the current castles will be replaced

That would make sense but the Mediterranean architecture is already the set with the most civs.

But yea almost every other set would be better for the Huns then the Central European.
Like even American wouldn’t be more wrong.

How are the Bohemians not Central European but the Huns and Goths are?

A nomadic set would at last fix the Huns architecture.

Yes but what are “Nomadic buildings”?
Every Building a tent? Being Nomads already implies no real architecture.

The new shamanistic monastery kinda looks out of place now with the current architecture sets. They should built on the style of that building to create a new nomadic architure

Pretty much. Have you seen the Mongols in AoE4 or the Lakota in AoE3?

It’s very possible to make an architecture set based on tents instead of fully stationary buildings.

Maybe that’s what they did?
They can’t keep adding civs without new architecture sets forever.

Yeah, I also thought that, but on the other hand, if they are going to create another architecture set, they would announce it, right? Unless they only plan to do it much later.

Completely, the only building that could potentially look strange is the castle, I am not sure how a nomadic castle could be done

There is a bunch of things they haven’t announced that were only hinted at in the patch notes like the civilisations from the DLC.

Castles are now unique to every civilisation so they can all get something that makes sense.
It can’t be worse then now with the Mongols having a Japanese castle and the Huns having an English one.

The Hunnic castle could be a captured Roman one for example similar to their Wonder.

It would look Strange to siege with rams those nomadic tents, and the buildings lasting as much as a real building.

It works well in AoE4 and AoE3 so why not in AoE2 too?
Not every building looks equally durable right now either.

It wouldn’t just be a tent and nothing else. It would also have some other elements like fences, a wooden tower for the archery range and so on.
The buildings still have to have the shape of AoE2 buildings after all.

Case in point : wonders.

The Mongol wonder is a big tent. The Frankish wonder is a “gothic” cathedral.

In WW1 the Germans tried destroying the Reims cathedral with heavy artillery. It’s still standing. I could say the same about the Cologne cathedral (not french but of a similar architecture) that survived american WW2 bombings, while the rest of the city had to be rebuilt. Somehow I doubt a big tent would withstand that.

A nomadic style would be fairly straightforward to make : make it look like tents that get increasingly ornate as you age up. Only have stone foundations for buildings that are supposed to be hard such as castles (they can look half-ruined with tents over them). Done !

You can already destroy plowed fields with rams, which puts them on fire.

I do wonder what are they going to do with this castle sprite that went unused since the start of DE

It’s definitely more tatar than cuman. I don’t think they’ll use it as the Tatars will most likely retain the central asian castle.

(those turquoise domes are taken straight from Samarkand)

True, i dont like the current one, or this one, for Cumans either

To be fair I don’t know exactly what they will pick for a cuman architecture (even their wonder is a plundered ruined castle) but “not Samarkand” is a safe bet.

I swear I’ve seen castles that look exactly like that in Turkey. My guess would be Tukrs would retain that.

They are going to discard it most probably. Many unit sprites too are going to get discarded soon.

They might reused them for Hero units…

They will probably keep them in the scenario editor.

There indeed is the precedent of the former Indian wonder that was replaced (as the original wonder was built in the 17th century), which was kept.

That was for a wonder from a civ added with Forgotten. A castle (used more often by several civs) that dates back from CD AOK has even more nostalgic value.

I hope the 25th castle is for one of the Greek civ from Chronicles.
