Open letter at the new Gaming CEO by Microsoft.
Hello community.
Its official now that Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer does retire
and that a new person will take his job.
So lets give Asha Sharma a warm welcome and please,
please my fellow gamer community, let’s stay focused and clear an what we actually want.
Yes, as people who want to play games,
we all are simply concerned about the future of our games.
My personal topic would be first access to the older games.
Microsoft has IP rights to many games that are not sold on online stores,
Like Rise of Nations Rise of Legends and Freelancer,
it would be nice to have access to them on Steam and GoG too.
Those games are already made, there are fan groups who keep them alive for free.
Why cant we have it back?
The second topic is, it would be nice to see new games in development, the way a gamer wants it.
Without all this wide new audience / live-service / cartoony&simple for kids, DRM and other shenenigans. The thing is evem if there were ever people who wanted such kind of free2play games, by now they have it and wont switch to new one. Who needs 10 overwatch games? Even if its your type of game, you would play 2 or 4. So we see too frequent new games to flop, because the market is over satisfied.
Xbox Game Studios has so much potential to make very great new games, but
“the system” kind of enforces Safe remakes, Trend-chasing, Heavy monetization,
Empty too big worlds with no substance, online play, too simple to play games.
As we have seen this direction is a dead end, as it leaves no foundation to make money.
With change in leadership of the gaming department,
there is kind of hope it could go in better direction.
So guys feel free to add, what should improve or change.
