Opinions about A good casual gamemode?

Hi everyone,
Since the release of AOM:R I have really started thinking about what would be a good casual game mode for AOM and have found no satisfying answer.
CS2 has a casual mode which have the following characteristics and i will compare them with AOMR:

  • Casual games are short. the round timer is the same but the overall number of rounds are much fewer. ( I dont think quick match (QP) differs in match length from ranked)
  • You can easily join and drop out of it whenever you want without ruining everybody else’s experience since they get replaced by another player shortly after mid game. (Although AOMR doesn’t punish people for leaving QP as of right now but people leaving the game does compeletly ruin other players’ experience)
  • Fundamentals of the game are the same but certain stuff have been made less punishing for example the gun recoils and bullets work exactly the same and all guns are available but since you automatically always have armor in the game you dont need to be so strict with your economy management like the way you do in ranked games. (comparable by how AOMR does allow Villager priority and military auto queue in QP but not in ranked which I think is a huge mistake and would create a lot of confusion amongst players.)
I would like to know your opinions about how we can create a better QP mode which would be fun and also pave the way for people to enter ranked queues.

Are you trying compare AoMR with Counter Strike?

No Im trying to think of a QP mode that isnt just ranked without MMR.

I’m not sure what you want. You descriptions are very vague.

Hi. first of sorry for my super late reply.
Yea ur right. let me rephrase it: Is it possible to have a game mode that wont be ruined in case some one decides to leave the match (cause if now some1 leaves from QP every else on his team also have to leave the match cause they dont want to play at a disadvantage).

Players dropping in and out makes sense in a shooter because there isn’t long-term build up. Every play/life stands entirely on its own. In an RTS, on the other hand, you build up a base using a build order with a certain strategy in mind. Another player cannot simply jump in and take over. It’s just not feasible to do drop-in-drop-out the same way it might be in a shooter.
